NHLPA rejects NHL's realignment plan. Woohoo!

On hold for at least a year.

This is your captain obvious speaking: The sky is blue on a sunny day.

Can`t disagree with that.

I'm torn on the issue. There is certainly truth to his points. But was the game really that much cleaner before?

I find Burke's presser simplistic and populist. First, he's calling a PC to be in tears about the leaving of...Colton Orr? He's some Leafs legend now, with 9 points in 150 games or something? The simple truth is Orr is not good enough for the game, and that's that. There are players that can fight and play, and he's not really one of them. Second, "players policing the game" is a bit of a myth. What team has its big star in concussion for a year? Happens to be the same team that leads the league in number of fights.

Probably yes, probably no. Depends (Urbom/depth signing).

Could be, but there`s no guarantee. Seemed to improved with more games though. Then there`s the question of who do you pair him with. I`d prefer Volchenkov, but that might be an adventure.

My only issue with Salvador was that he wasn't Colin White and that if the team was going to get rid of one of the two of them, I'd have preferred to keep White over Salvador. But Salvador was LTIR and I don't mind him at all. I think the team does miss White's presence this year though. I think some of those collapses wouldn't have happened with White on the back end.

This, culture change and Salvador`s LTIR are the reasons why Lou got rid of him. Salvador is no Speedy Gonzales, but still. He`s better at certain things.

That's fine, I just have a different perspective on White. I see all the great plays he made around the net, swiping pucks away and keeping the shots away from Brodeur. I don't think he fits into SJ's system, but I think he would have still done well enough to be a bottom pairing d-man / PKer in NJ.

CBJ going to trade Carter. His value is probably non existent according to sources. I would move maybe Josefson for him and put Tallinder on the LTIR to accommodate the cap space.

Henrique-Zajac-Real Carter-Elias as your four down the middle, good gravy. And his cap hit is what Marty makes, so, going into the next year, just swap Marty's salary for his. Plus, he'd love to stick it to Philly.

Actually, with the prorated salary, his cap hit is 1.8M and we have 2.7 in cap space left. We could add him without moving Tallinder to LTIR.

This reminded me of something. A friend, now unfortunately completely lost (even his cousin refuses to tell me where he is) was a frontier soldier in the IDF. He had killed 12 people, he was captured and tortured, he was a model a few years ago before he disappeared, screwing an insane amount of women. He also had grave PTSD, but getting better. He used to say that he found out in the army that men give much better blow jobs than women.

Exactly how I feel. If they were going to include those prospects they had to include at least one of Stepan, McD, and MDZ. And if they were going to include Dubinsky they had to at least include Kreider. I was watching that game and saw that play at the time. I felt (and still do) that Letang exposed himself reaching for the puck knowing the opposing player was bearing down on him. I wish the players would take some more personal responsibility. I feel like this is the same problem as years back when players were getting blitzed face first into the boards. Most of the time they were turning at the last minute.

Might seem counter intuitive, but the best way to prevent head injuries from hits might be to remove helmets, or at least make them flimsy like Gretzky's where they only protect against the worst case scenarios and it is obvious that is all they do. The result is is the hitter is more conscious of the damage that can be done and holds up a bit, but more importantly the hittee protects themselves more. The protective equipment now one can argue is too effective. Players don't have a fear.

It is kind of like bicycle helmets. I remember hearing there is a higher rate of head injuries among those wearing helmets than not on the road. Not because the helmets don't work, but because riders are more careless with them.

It is the same thing with shin guards now and blocking shots. I think those clear plastic protectors that some players wear over their skates should be banned.

Exactly why I wouldn't be upset of the guy got suspended. It the CHL they have to protect and coddle the players regardless of fault. Make them mindful of how they control their body. These are kids, it's not worth ruining lives and careers over. At the NHL level it's a little different story as their are many more factors involved.

Meh, you don`t want no touch icings. It`s a part of the game that should always be there. More sensitive officiating is all we need.

Eh, it's something that I surely won't miss when it's gone. Just get it over quick and be done with it. It's not an exciting play and it only gets players hurt.

Can we start blaming the stars? Like...finally? I`m sick and tired of hearing from fans who want to destroy NHL hockey.

Yeah, seriously, he goes into a high traffic zone and then decides to totally fold up? lol.

Is Sean Avery done with hockey?

Avery said Monday night during an After Show segment of Bravo TV's Watch What Happens Live that he was leaving the game. When asked about his hockey future, Avery said, "I am officially retired. I threw my skates in the Hudson."

He was on Bravo LOL. Get lost Sean.

The thing is he wasn't bad at hockey. His ego was so big that he became a problem everywhere he went. If he just played hockey and didn't yap and do all that stupid **** he wouldn't be bad.

Crosby will play Thursday against the NYR. So we'll see him on Saturday as well in all likelihood.

We can always hope that Dubinsky does something stupid and tests his noggin. Win-win for the Devils.

David Clarkson wins in the end. Funny thing is that Avery actually can play hockey and Clarkson fundamentally can't. So it tells you a thing or two about the two people.

Stamkos with #50 and still just under a month left in the season. I say 55 or 54 to end the year.

Another great thing about this place, this is the first mention of Alexander Radulov. Why not more Travis Zajac?

 oh yeah, sorry. Radulov is coming back. I think that's a weird situation. NSH shouldn't let him. He's just trying to get big money, play 13 games and playoffs and then get FA lol. RFA, but still.

He comes back now and he will fulfill the final year on his deal with Nashville an would be eligible to be a FA.

Nashville wants to win and having Radulov in their lineup will certainly help them score goals.

Still don't understand what you're supposed to do there, skate away from him?

Ultimately the player that gets hit has to be held accountable for their positioning as well, that's a joke, he's folded up deep in the slot. I understand that CHL is a league with (mostly) kids and you don't want stuff like this happening, but at the same time, it's hockey.

I think everybody understands Radulov's motivation for coming back now. Does anyone understand why the Preds don't force him to come back next year and play out a whole year of his contract instead of just the dozen games and playoffs?

I'd say, "If you want to play in the NHL, see you in September." and let him decide how much he wants it.

Because they are trying to win to convince to the two most important players in their franchises history to sign long term contracts and having Radulov in the lineup exponentially helps those chances.

Big#D
03-14-2012, 11:47
I'm assuming that by exponentially, you mean going from a 5% chance of winning the Western Conference to 7.5%. They aren't going to win with or without him and they are wasting a year of his playing time with a transaction that amounts to trading Anssi Salmela for Nik Havelid.

They are also giving in to a guy that should be treated like Yashin and not be given everything he asks for.
