I can't root for Grumpy and Arnott after last year

Getzo5

Still butthurt? I don`t care anymore. They`ve been a huge part of some big achievements in the past. Langenbrunner was born as a puss, not his fault :sarcasm:

Seriously though, I wish them all the best. Gomez... can die in a fire for all I care.

I'm on the Nashville for SC bandwagon now that the Devils are out.

Ditto. I'll also be strongly rooting against team Russia in the WCs.

You know he's playing for us next year, right? Kovalchuk needs a C, Devils are broke, he's being bought out. put 1+1+1 together and you got that

VaxjoDevil

Wasn't there a rumor that he was looking forawrd to getting bought out and wants to come back.

That could be a disaster. I don't know if I could watch 2 guys on the same play try to curl inside the blueline

guyincognito
04-21-2012, 20:33
Wasn't there a rumor that he was looking forawrd to getting bought out and wants to come back.

Probably the same reasoning that I have. I would be surprised if he's not in our camp. And the Devils definitely WOULD follow up this potential mess here, followed up by the mess this offseason is going to be, by bringing in someone like him.

Vinnie

If we sign Gomez I give up.

guyincognito
04-21-2012, 20:36
It *could* work. Well, when you have to be wary of your budget and you have a guy making $11M on a $6.6M cap hit, some real weird **** is going to happen.

Vinnie

Gomez would fit right in as a retread as he is basically the only player from the Cup years that never did jack in the playoffs.

Correction, he did have that momentum killing kicking in the puck in 01. So he would really fit in with this group

VaxjoDevil

Perhaps I'm a stupid optimist, but having Gomez back could work. Never know.

guyincognito
04-21-2012, 20:40
I wonder how they're even going to make that work. They have to be $4.4M over the floor in cash because of Kovy's deal. Unless something unforseen happens, they're not going to be carrying at $60-65M payroll, they really should just trade the schmuck.

jkrdevil
04-21-2012, 20:42

Honestly i think it would be like Sykora this year, accept with assist instead of goals. I don't think it will be like Holik, who was probably the worse retread experiment (yes worse than Mogilny)

Game four against Tampa in 07, the Devils were trailing 2-1 in the series and playing playoff OT which had gone poorly for them since winning game 5 against Tampa in 03. I believe they lost every OT prior to that. Gomez scores in OT to tie the series at 2-2 and the Devils won the next two for a trip to the next round. I believe that was the very last season the Devils won two playoff games in a row.

guyincognito
04-21-2012, 20:44
He was actually a pretty good playoff player post lockout. But now he's basically the eskimo Jeff Friesen.

Considering the Coyotes have been allowed to operate with (5-6 million over the floor) it might not be that bad.

I'll take him back. I'll also like Stevens, Niedermayer and Daneyko back. I'd like a re-do on the Kovalchuk trade, I'd like a re-do of the 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008 NHL entry drafts.

With the 52nd pick, in the NHL entry draft, the New Jersey Devils select, from the Kelowna Rockets, defenseman, Duncan Keith

With the 17th pick, in the NHL entry draft, the New Jersey Devils select, from the Kitchener Rangers, centre, Mike Richards

With the 42nd pick in hte NHL entry draft, the New Jersey Devils select, from the Kelowna Rockets, defenseman, Shea Weber

With the 23rd pick in the NHL entry draft, the New Jersey Devils select, from the University of North Dakota, Centre, T.J. Oshie

With the 25th pick in the NHL entry draft, the New Jersey Devils select, from Västerås Hockey, Centre, Patrik Berglund

With the 24th pick in the NHL entry draft, the New Jersey Devils select, from the Indiana Ice, defenseman, John Carlson

Ah, life would be so much less loserish.

I look at first round picks replacing first round picks, and second round picks replacing seconds. Otherwise, I'd have Enstrom in there somewhere.

So, it's either Bergeron or Weber, take your pick. I'd rather have Richards. Healthier player and plays with fire, a true leader. Something the NJD lack.

Tao Jones

I jumped from the Blues bandwagon to the Panthers as soon as Madden signed.

It's hard not to want the Coyotes, Predators, and Blues to keep going. Madden > Rolston, but I can't hate on Winky, Grumpy, or Arnie. Can't say I have the same sentiments for Oduya, Mitchell, or O'Donnell.

You`re underrating Bergeron there. He is an amazing leader and tough as nails. Plays the game the right way and has a lot of heart. As for his health, well, we know what knocked him down.

Every hockey player likes to drink. He lead the Flyers to the Cup finals, and he'll lead the Kings far this year. The kid just gets it. It's either him, Getzlaf or Kesler in the first round as a replacement.....or Perry, but, I don't like him.

"A Torres hit," probably not, but Neil's blow on Boyle was a blindside hit to the head of a defenseless player who'd just released a shot after cutting toward the middle. If Neil is not suspended for the remainder of this series, at least, there is something rotten at hand.

Yes, Brooks HAS gone completely homer. Too bad. NONE of the commentators I have heard so far thought it was dirty, including the Rangers guys on MSG.

I know here and HF love Suter but I would join a cult if we could get Weber. I am actually hoping Nashville ponies up to spend to the salary cap and keeps their core which includes both Weber and Suter. With Detroit on the down swing and SJ likely in my mind to be blown up they could have quite a run with the big boys in the west.

Nah, I think it's similiar, but it's similiar because they changed what was working. They were playing a pretty decent team game and then suddenly, it's time for NHL 12 clusterfuck mode. Well, when your goalie plays like an 8 year old would, possibly even worse, good luck with that.

Bylsma should be fired. If he couldn't get them to stop doing that, what good is he, they put up a much better fight last year with NO ONE important playing. They just didn't have the guns to win the series.

It's fixed. They can't have Ottawa, PHI, NJ/FLA, WSH in the East.

They want BOS/PHI/NYR/ and have to unfortunately for them take one of FLA or NJ. They'd probably prefer NJ, but don't mind getting the Panthers some exposure. They lost DET/SJ and that sucks for them. This is getting laughable at how obvious they are.

I honestly think they prefer Florida. Not only do you potentially have Miami as an additional market (even though no one will care), but you also get to market the Panthers as the poor little underdog against the big bad Bruins. New Jersey is the team everyone loves to hate because they are so boring because that's what all the idiot media types tell us they are.

It's borderline. Yes he drives the net, but he's got a guy tying him up from one end and then Girardi hits him in the back sending him flying. I don't think you can call that.

Though the fact that the Queen was in the ears of the refs all night, not shocking it got called.

I really hope the Sens calm their **** down in the intermission and come out attacking, a goal in the first 5 minutes and look out. All they need to do is force OT, they're a great 3rd period team so it is possible.
