After signing an ATO with Albany earlier this week, C David Wohlberg has signed 2-year entry-level contract with Devils. Begins next season.

Devilsfanatic
03-30-2012, 15:07
I don't see why Harrold would be removed. He was our best d-man the last game. Until he fucks up, Larsson should sit.

And good for Wohlberg. He could arrive in NJ as soon as mid next year.

Dr. Doom
03-30-2012, 15:14
I missed last night's game so I have no clue how Harrold played last night. They might want to see how Larsson responded to being scratched. It's important to know what lineup they want for the playoffs.

I'd love Wohlberg on the 4th line. He will most likely have to start on wing though.

Devilsfanatic
03-30-2012, 15:17
Unless he can win face offs, in which case, he can centre, and maybe we move Elias back to the LW because he sucks at face offs.

devilzrule27
03-30-2012, 15:18
He's not a center at the NHL level from what I saw at Michigan. Could be a solid winger.

So Zajac-Henrique-Josefson down the middle. I'm not sure how I feel about signing Sykora for another year. Resign Poni and/or Carter? I'm not a fan of Boulton still in the lineup but he probably will be to be the enforcer.

Anyone think they are going to make a playoff commercial for the Devils? I'm kind of interested on what sayings they would use.

"Because everyone said he isn't a team player."
"Because he's the greatest of all time."
"Because everyone said he was done in the NHL."

What else do you guys have?

Looks like Larsson will be out again tomorrow. It sounds like a big part of it is that he isn't in top condition since his injury. He needs to get his conditioning back.

He said he thinks he is going to play in the playoffs but I wouldn't be so sure of that right now.

Devilsfanatic
04-02-2012, 11:26
And as long as Harrold keeps working, I see no need to bring Larsson back in. It's like limiting a pitcher on an innings count to adjust him back from either an injury or converting from reliever to starter.

That would be ashame if he doesn't play in the playoffs. It is what it is though.

Devilsfanatic
04-02-2012, 11:42
More than likely he will play in the playoffs, however if Tallinder was available, I wouldn't be too sure. He is a rookie after all and the burden of a SCP on defense as a 19 year old is a tough thing.

Dr. Doom
04-02-2012, 11:50
Him and Harrold will probably rotate. I would expect to see Larsson in at least the last game of the season or the last 2 games, so that someone can get extra rest.

Devilsfanatic
04-02-2012, 11:52
If they've got the six locked in tomorrow night, I'd rest Volchenkov and Salvador in the last few, they'll be our most important come SCP time.

Sounds like a whiny ***** cause things didn't go his way. Both sides have been ignoring their sides of the deal for 6 years now. Finally went to court and all they had to do was read the contract and say this is whats happening.

Not to mention it was Booker who went around championing the work he did to renegotiate the deal Sharpe James made to make it a fair deal for Newark but 6 years later he's saying "well gee guys I didn't really mean that, this deal kind of sucks." I fucking hate politicians.

It's pretty possible Vanderbeek has gone weak on promises made. In which case, I can understand some anger though.

There were no promises made, Booker signed on to this deal for a smidge of revenue and advertisements in the building and on the video board, + some very minor local commitments that were probably met by giving the practice rink out for free. He got exactly what he was supposed to. He's just a politician. He knew this deal was what it was when construction started, that's why he tried to stop it, and he didn't say a word during this process. Now that it's over he has to make alot of noise because from the outside perspective he looks like a fool.

Meanwhile Sharpe James is sitting in club seats somewhere.

To do double headers with central time zone games. 6:30 games end at about 9 eastern, meaning an 8 pm local start I the central. They did that last year in the second round

My guess is all three eastern start times will be used. Remember thy have to get all the games fully on tv this year. It old be that or making round 1 extra long like the NBA

I don't see how one can logically think the Panthers are going to win this series. I'm not being cocky, but on paper(and in points), the Devils are just.. better. We have game breakers on offense and Marty f*ing Brodeur in goal. Our PK is nearly unbeatable. Our forward depth is fantastic. We just don't have a stud on D.

Last time Devils went 6-0 going into the playoffs? 2002 where they were the sixth seed and lost to the Carolina Hurricanes.

In 2002-03 the Devils went 2-1-3(T) going into the playoffs

In 1999-2000 they went 3-3 on their way in

and in 1994-95 they were 2-3-1

Last few playoff seasons:

2009-10 4-1-1
2008-09 4-2
2007-08 4-2

In two of the three Cup years they were pedestrian, in one they weren't bad but when they've gone into the playoffs playing decent, they've come up short.

Can't we fake an injury a put him on LTIR? Come on we faked a Salvador concussion for a full year! Why not with Janssen? :sarcasm:

Didn't the Devils do that with him the last year he was here? Or am I thinking of another 4th line plug?

Jason Wiemer was put on LTIR but he had knee surgery.

Can't forget Darren Langdon and Dan Lacouture. I swear post lockout we've went through every useless 4th liner there has been in the NHL.

Maybe it was Mark Fraser or Jay Leach or someone like that. It was recent. Within the last 2-4 years.

edit: maybe PLLL

As far as I can remember Wiemer is the only 4th liner that we have had LTIR'd. All the others have been sent down/waived or returned from their injuries. I don't know who you are thinking of. haha

Maybe I'm imagining. I thought there was a real player coming off LTIR but the Devils had no roster space available, so they just LTIR-ed a guy with a "shoulder injury" or "upper body injury" or something like that. I'm getting old (not that old, but I digress), so I'm probably losing all my memory now.

“It doesn’t matter what happens this playoffs,” Sykora said. “I want to play next year. I’ve felt this season the best I’ve felt in a long time. So, I will play. I’m not sure where. I would love to play in the NHL. I would love to play here for the New Jersey Devils, but you never know what’s going to happen. So, for me, the outcome of the playoffs is not going to affect my decision-making for this season."

I wish him luck on his next team. His points came from playing with Elias. He found a slower gear in the second half of the season..lol.

I'd sign him if was at another contract similar to the one from this season. I doubt he would sign another contract like that again though.

20 goals = getting more than league minimum from someone. Watch him play for the Isles with Pandolfo and Madden centering them.

Let's not forget his buddies Elias and Zidlicky are on the Devils and will most likely give him the best chance at winning. I'm sure Petr has a good amount of money saved up and he will be given a scouting role with the Devils after he retires.

Sykora was a great story this year but I'd prefer to leave it at this year. Another year older, another year slower. I'd rather re-sign Poni and give Tedenby a fair shake going into next year.
