So I made another joke last night that got me in trouble with my brother inlaw

Apparently Kim Kardashian received a Grinch award from peta for wearing fur....

I said, "she is not wearing fur, she is just Armenian"

Didn't go over well :)
I laughed and I'm pretty sure the rest of my family would too.

So I was at this concert last night at Webster Hall in NYC. I was literally fifth wheeling since no one but them wanted to go out to the concert. So during the concert I'm dancing with this girl and it was dirty. Straight up fucking with clothes on basically. She groped me so many times. I was getting annoyed but got her back.

I called my friends to look at me and when they did I pulled her shirt down enough that she was flashing. She didn't really seem to mind since she was beyond wasted like me.

The jerseyguy poster said something that he was going somewhere and there were going to be a bunch of 16 year olds so pfp was busting him about getting with them and I write "Old enough to count is good enough to mount :sarcasm:" and it gets deleted

Am I missing something? Was that really something that was so bad it had to be deleted?

Awesome, I went back to Sussex county to visit my friends and girlfriends family. Went to a Christmas eve party and had amazing italian food and saw a lot of old friends.
Woke up at my best friends house on Christmas with a stack of presents from his family that I wasn't expecting. Went to my gfs families party and got more unexpected presents.

Managed to get drunk 4 out of 5 nights, avoided bronchitis and some 24 hour stomach bug that everyone seemed to have, and turned down 3 old crushes in high school:cool:

I'm not sure. It was just sold. I kind of lease (I used that term loosely) the properties for the sole purpose of hunting. I haven't spoke to the land owner yet, my buddy gave the news this afternoon. All I know is the property is sold to someone that Scott knows. I will find out more when talk talk to the owner and Stevens.

Great read this morning:

http://www.nj.com/shore/blogs/index.ssf/2011/12/why_jersey_pride_must_include.html

Some gems:

Regardless, many of us will like whatever team is good at this time or whichever player is hot. It explains why there are so many unhealthy Dallas Cowboy fan elements in New Jersey with customized jerseys like Smith, Aikman and Irvin. They're in their 30s, they live near you, but they can't even name the capital of Texas. In baseball, it is another reason that the Mets have so many fans in their 30s: the Yankees were horrible from the mid 80s to mid 90s.

This isn't baseball where our state has no team. Or football where two teams play here on the condition they would never use our name. Or basketball where a team was New York, then became New Jersey, and is now going back to New York Brooklyn. Or soccer when they named the team NJ/ NY, then nothing, now New York again. Unlike them all, the New Jersey Devils embraced the state, but all of the state hasn't embraced them.

Again I didn't think you looked bad at all......especially for not having skated in a while......it was nice that each goalie there wasn't terrible because a lot of open sessions tend to get lousy goalies where we're better off sticking a cone in front of the net lol - last night was good, but I'm pretty tired right now haha

Wingman,

Its becoming an all too familiar story. I know so many people here in New Jersey that just don't hunt in state anymore because of lack of access and poor quality of public land.

Clubs are rough. I had an option to join a club in Hunterdon County a couple of years ago. It was a little over 80 acres with over 40 members and they wanted a grand for a year.

40 guys 80 arces???? You basically get a tree to hunt for $1000.

So a lot of guys rather just take that money and do a week in a quality environment ....really sucks.

250 isnt bad at all...as long as you don't have alot of yahoo's you have to share the property with.

I'm embarrassed to say I was paying $50. Our "club" had been in this place for over 70 years and the price only went up once in that time.
We only had 12 members, 6 sets of father's and sons and nearly 400 acres to hunt. It was all owned by 1 guy. He died and his children and now grandchildren began selling off the land. Can't blame them, the property is worth millions.

No not the same guy. The original landowner died in 1994. His daughter and two sons took over the property. The daughter lived on the property during the weekends and in the city during the week. She loved the property, she was a contributor to the US Equestrian team wich was around the corner .The horses and the land were a connection to her father but all the while the two brothers were itching to sell. In 2007 she was throw from a horse and had some brain damage. She really stopped coming and stayed in the city and the brothers adult children moved into the house. By 2007 2/3 of the land had been sold. The brothers wanted the money and really had no use for the land.

Stupid baseball geeks ruined it for everyone. Baseball is a game of head to head battles and limited moving parts. It doesn't work as well for other sports. I bet he'd complain about Marty's performance in the Washington game and not even understand why that happened.

What good are the numbers if you don't understand the mechanics of them?

guyincognito
12-30-2011, 15:15
The reverse is some choose to dismiss stats like they are completely irrelevant. I don't believe the truth is in the middle, it is more towards the numbers when evaluated in the proper context...

I mean last year I gave the Kovalchuk giveaways stat, and the stat was attacked by the zealots...only a blind retard could deny the fact that this was inept player with the puck but many if not most did.

Giveaways are a little different, that is a more isolated stat. The stuff he's throwing out there, if you don't understand the conditions that caused it, how can you use it? Turnover is simpler, guy A gives the puck to guy B or guy B takes it from him. It's not so much dependant on 10 moving parts. It's also something that passes the vision test, you can see it.

To me goaltending is the Clemmer rule. Stop the first shots you can see and snuff them. If you can do that, you're fine. If you don't do that, you failed. I'm not going to kill a goalie for something like what happened in the 3rd period of the Caps game where they gave up 3 goals 6 feet combined from the net on passing plays.

Got out to the creek this morning. Some nice browns, a decent looking stocked brook (if there is such a thing) and two nice looking stocked rainbows. The rainbows really surprised me. I know they were stocked fish, but man did they look good. All fins present, nice color, very proportional and healthy looking. Tomorrow is the last day for this years license. Sunday I'll have to buy a new one.

Plus you never have to buy bait or lures ;)

I'm about 1/50th as talented with a fly rod as I am a spinning rod. I plan to work on that, as soon as I get the time and money.

And I still have to buy materials to tie flies ;) Also, FWIW, I rarely (and I mean maybe once a year) use live bait. It's basically cheating. Wayyy too easy.

Deer hair that I harvested. The pattern is called a comparadun that was developed by Al Caucci on the Delaware river for fishing finicky trout. This is a summer sulphur imitation.

Probably because you are dehydrated, and coffee makes you even more dehydrated, thus tired. I experienced that, too.

A tip: when you need to be sharp, drink lots of water instead of coffee. Save the coffee for morning only.

But there is nothing more gratifying in fishing than attaching some feathers and fur to hook and tricking a fish. The first time you catch a fish on a fly you crafted everything changes.

Just catching fish becomes largely irrelevant and the artistry and challenge becomes paramount.

So I randomly say we are playing Ottawe and people look at me strangely. But it's just a secret ode to my old fishing mentor Tommy aka Dundee.

*spoilers if you want to read the books*

I feel the same way. I was slightly shocked by it. It wasn't totally surprising because of everything he was doing though. I really wanted to see a little more with Dany, but I have a feeling her move will happen quickly. I wanted Tyrion to meet up with her and I think when that happens she will go to Westeros and when she meets with Victarion to get the horn. I'm very curious to see where he takes Bran and Arya. There's a lot going on and I think the next book will be like SoS where a lot happens.

Also, I liked Varys at the end. He should/will be a major part in the next books. Hopefully his character will resolve all the questions since he is the master of whisperers and knows everything.

Varys v.s Littlefinger, I think. They'll end up being an instrumental force against one another.
I can see that happening. It's so difficult to get a read on Littlefinger, you can never know if he means what he is saying. I just really hope we don't have to wait 5-6 years for the next book. It seems like it shouldn't be too difficult for him to write the next one since it has been well set up and he has already completed some chapters that weren't included in ADWD.

Edit: I've been reading a spoiler thread so I can make sure I caught everything that was going on and see what everyone else thinks. I'm a little shocked that so many people didn't like the book. I don't know what they expected, maybe it is because they waited so long for it. It can't all be answered so fast otherwise there wouldn't be the next two books. Some think there will be an 8th book, but I don't think so. I think we will see a fast progression of story lines once things start happening. Once all the answers come everything will start to make sense for us and the characters in the book.

i made pizza. mmm

Looks delicious. I didn't take a picture of what I made last ngiht but it was glorious. Pork tenderloin done in my Big Green Egg with apple wood for smoke and water & apple juice in the drip pan to steam the meat as it cooked. Pulled at 140 degrees and let it rest for 5 minutes or so before we devoured it. My wife made sweet potato cubes she roasted in the oven along with peas made for a wonderful meal. The night was topped off with our regular cabernet sauvignon of Oak Grove. What a way to end the weekend :).

Montana, Wyoming, Eastern Idaho is just awe inspiring. From the Tetons up to the Bitteroots and over to the Sawtooths...It is the closest thing to heaven that I've ever seen.

My buddy has a place in West Virginia and can basically live off of the land if he wanted to. Enough to farm and hunt on with easy fishing near by.

Until you need serious healthcare ;)

And this is why he doesn't ;). The house is at least an hour away from Roanoke, VA which is the nearest big town/city.

What is a good scotch to try that isn't too expensive?

My answer is not cool, sophisticated or complicated…For the money I’m a Johnny Walker Black fan…People will poo poo blended Scotches like they are some kind of ******* child only worthy of Neanderthal, but I just like it.

I think there is much better value in decent Bourbon like a Basil Hadden, Four Roses, Buffalo Trace or a Woodford Reserve than a reasonably priced Scotch.
You can get most of the Bourbons I named in the same price as a Johnny Walker Black and I believe those Bourbons are superior to a blend run of the mill scotch.

You're not in NJ are you? There is a restaurant and the owner is a tequila fanatic. He has been getting small batch mescals that are really nice after dinner for sipping. Stuff is dangerous though.

Not in NJ. Closer to the border in Tucson, AZ. We get most of our booze at the local Total Wine & More, that's why I was asking about the bourbons.

I owe a friend I haven't seen much this past year a bottle. He visited four bourbon distilleries on his cross country trip back to Mass. about a year ago.

Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Maker's Mark, and I think Woodford was the fourth.
