View Full Version : Where does Mattias Tedenby stand with the Devils?

Lamoriello said Mattias Tedenby, sent to Albany (AHL) on Saturday, still figures prominently in the organization’s future.

“You never get disappointed in a young player. You go through ups and downs,” Lamoriello said. “He’s got a tremendous amount of skill. He has to play 15-18 minutes a game to get his game and confidence back. He understands that. He is, without question, a top prospect. We forget how young they are.”

So, there you have it.

He is part of the "new" devils. In the future we are going to be very well built in terms of prospects. He will only continue to get stronger and smarter.

P.S. there is a Mattias Tedenby thread somewhere on these boards, maybe combine them?

It's on page two. Too much effort.

Also, Tedenby has a crazy amount of character and I think he adds a lot of value to the locker room in the future.

I for one minute never thought he'd be trade bait like so many others seem to think.

Me either.

I'm starting to wonder if JJ will end up being a top 6 center or not. With Henrique's emergence and Zajac it seems like we are set in the top 6. We have also seen how much better JJ is at center than at wing.

In a couple of years?

Elias-Zajac-Tedenby
Palmieri-Josefson-Clarkson

I would be happy with this and we wouldn't be paying out the *** through free agency. Not to mention the chemistry that would be developed after playing with each other for years.

Nobody knows. Way too many people assume this because a 21 year old was sent down. Too many people like to think they're a GM.

I'd rather move Josefson. I'm not really that high on him. He's a smart defensive C, but I don't think he's anymore than a 40 pt C, at best. He's also 20, easy to forget that.

I would really like to keep him. I'm not so sure about his offensive abilities. Like you I see him in the 40-50 pt range. Maybe more if he has someone to pass to.

Maybe it's Tedenby. Maybe one day Josefson can be an Elias type, but he's still raw. I think with Henny's emergence, he can go down to Albany when Zajac comes.

I would really like to see Henrique-Elias-Zajac-Josefson down the middle. We could actually have secondary scoring and defense.

I don't know if 4th line duty is good for him. But John Madden did it.

As long as he has competent linemates I see no problem with it. It would take some pressure off the top lines, especially in the 3rd period.

Devilsfanatic

That's the problem, don't know if he'll get good linemates.

It will ultimately come down to if they can be healthy.

Doubt Teddy comes back this season. That does look pretty good though.

A man can dream, but Boulton will probably be there instead for some stupid reason.

Boulton scores hat tricks.

Only against Marty

Didn't he do it against Moose? I think Moose should start on Tuesday.

I thought it was against Marty. And yes I would like Moose to start the next game.

Here is the issue with Tedenby going forward. How long will Deboer be the coach? Let's say he goes to Albany and gets his confidence and develops a bit to where he is called up again next year. If Deboer is still the coach how is he going to be used? First impressions are often lasting and that likely means 4th line with scrubs and 5 minutes a night.

Dr. Doom

Sometimes I don't understand DeBoer's decisions. It's like he has a cookie cutter plan for his team and if you don't fit in in a certain place you get left out. You have to mold your team around your players.

DeBoer is gonna be coach for a long time. Teddy needs to refine his game.

He's only 21. He'll get another chance in camp next year. Parise, Sykora, and Poni are all free agents, I doubt we keep all of them. I wouldn't be shocked at all if he were traded in the future, but at this point his stock is pretty low.

Devilsfanatic

They have to keep him when Parise takes off.

My thoughts are that if they ever do use Tedenby as trade bait it wont be until after the Parise "situation" is decided one way or another.
