also i need some advice

i made homemade hazelnut extract and used it to make hazelnut cake. the cake was eh. i put chocolate frosting on it. overall it wasn't bad but not awesome. but i still have some extract left. so i'm thinking of making hazelnut chocolate cake. but i seriously don't know what kind of frosting to put on it. like, yeah i could just make my nutella frosting for a pure hazelnut chocolate explosion or i could just do chocolate frosting, or vanilla bean frosting, or i don't know. what should i do? any other suggestions?

well that was the end of my homemade hazelnut extract. the cake tastes ok, better than the yellow cake i did before, but the centers all sank as they were cooling. based on the mild hazelnut flavor from the last time i used it i ended up adding 1/2 cup of extract and omitting the 1/2 cup of milk the recipe called for. the extract is mostly vodka, so i'm guessing thats why the centers sank. the vodka evaporated more rapidly than milk would resulting in unstable cake centers. at least i have a nifty well to pipe frosting into when i ice them.

we've been invited to 8 weddings this year. i was really hoping our wedding would be the year before everyone else got married. apparently i was wrong. if 2013 tops 2012 on the wedding invites i'll be shocked. first one is this weekend. we're double booked on weddings for april 27 and nov 2 already. everyone says this happens eventually. i wish it wasn't the year i needed to save my pennies for MY wedding!

so far i'm in one of them. well two if you count mine, haha. and she had to pick a dress from the snottiest most expensive, nickle and dime you for every last thing most trendy bridal shop ever. and i think it's going to cost like $200, plus alternations, plus shoes, plus some accessory she hasn't picked out yet.

i specifically picked a dress for my girls that wasn't alot of money. they already shell out for the shower, and hair, and makeup, and shoes, and all sorts of other stuff. it's so expensive to be in a wedding. the least i could do was pick a cheap dress and told them to buy their own shoes, just make them silver, and be done with it. i don't care what they look like

OFS is rocking Led Zeppelin. The Carver CD player + Sennheiser HD558 combo sounds like it was custom made for Zeppelin. Nice, warm, lush sound, with excellent instrument separation and a very full sound. I feel like I'm at a smoky dive bar and Zep is playing on stage. Pretty awesome for such a low cover charge ($3 cd player + $12 headphones [ok, they really should have cost like $350, but w/e])

I ran/walked just under 3/4 of a mile before work @ 11.5% grade. Tomorrow, I want to get here a bit earlier and do a full mile. Yeah, it sounds like nothing, but it was pretty freaking steep and I was pretty tired by the end of it.

I didn't today because I woke up a bit too late to load weight in my pack(the gym at my work is a joke and has no free weights), but I'm going to bring some weights in tomorrow to weigh down my pack. I figure my pack for backpacking will be ~25 lbs, so if I weight it with 35 lbs + pack weight, the pack should feel really light when I'm out. The last time I went to the gym with selyar, I put a 35 lb kettle bell in my pack and walked a steep mile with that. That was a solid workout. I'm going to wear my hiking boots next time, too. Sounds kinda stupid, but what better way to get into hiking/backpacking shape than simulating it as closely as possible? (and hopefully doing hikes on the weekend when I have time, but it's tough)

there is absolutely no reason to memorize that many numbers. hell, for most purposes, just using 3 is fine. i know 3.1415926 because of my calculator showing that many digits. i used to know a bunch more, because kids in my HS would memorize digits for fun, but I don't know if I remember them. i know, but this is just what i do before important exams. i have to get really worried about them so that i study really hard.

i have a friend that passed and i'm pretty much the reason he passed fluids, system dynamics, diff eq, and maybe a couple other classes. his advice was to just know how to navigate the equation booklet.

TCNJ required us to take the test, and thus provided a lame review course for us. i doubt i picked up anything during it, but all of the topics were at least in front of me at some point. the day or two before the test i did like half a practice test and called it done.

i finished the first part in 3 hours, had two hours to kill for lunch (aka lay out and get some sun on top of my friends pickup truck bed cover), then finished the second part in 3 hours. it's really not that bad. you'll be fine. afternoon questions are def harder, but still doable. which test are you taking, General or Mechanical? i remember skipping some, maybe 5? the morning should be a breeze. you should be able to answer them quick.

did you get a NCESS approved calculator? make sure you know how to use it. see if it will differentiate for you. could be a good check for yourself if you've got time and doubt your answer.

I did 1/2 of a practice exam for the FE like 2 days before and that was it. I passed that, so I'm pretty sure I can pass the PE with little studying. I'm just going to review how to do some of the problems and find my way around the book and that'll be it. The real question will be if I can finish everything before time runs out. I'm only a little nervous

i have a review book that i bought last year. i doubt that much could change, so i'm just using it. i have thought of my calculator and i highly doubt that i'll be able to use it, which sucks. i have to ask my advisor when i go back to school so i can get used to the calculator. (i have a ti-89)

so i just did a little bit of the book and boy to i not remember anything i've learned :laugh: it is no joke that the manual is the most important part of the exam. i did a mathematics diagnostic examination and everything that was needed was in the manual, all i had to do is find where it was.
