I also have a per-existing problem with my nose. I have one deviated septum and one partially deviated septum, then add to that inflamed turbinates. I will probably need surgery eventually but I'm afraid because there is a small possibility that I could lose sense of taste and smell.

That is about as bad as being blind...damn! Maybe a new procedure will be discovered by the time you are forced to make a decision on surgery that won't be as risky.

It isn't very risky. It is a very small chance, but it is one of those things that doctors have to say to cover their ***. Basically if he operates on my nose and accidentally hits a nerve or something it could cause those things. I don't have the greatest luck and lucky doesn't really run in my family, so I'm a little worried when he says there is a small chance something may happen. I can't imagine not being able to taste anything. I already can barely smell, but it's the taste that really worries me.

As it should quite honestly. No such thing as a simple procedure that requires anesthesia.

The hardest part has been not going out and meal planning. I'm eating 1200 every day spread over 5 meals breakfast, lunch, 3:00 PM snack, dinner, 9:00PM snack. My meals are a very loose interpretation of the Zone diet which is 40/30/30 - 40% Carbs - 30% Protein - 30% Fat. I don't measure the Carbs, Fat or Protein I just keep my meals around 300 calories and my snacks around 200.

Almost all of my carbs come from vegetables, no bread, white rice or refined flour. My fat comes mostly from cheese and olive oil. Protein is never more than 4oz. Chicken breast and fish are my staple proteins - ground turkey and pork loin sometimes. I haven’t any red meat at all and I don’t think I’m going to.

Wow. Nice discipline there. I had to watch my diet after getting a warning from my doctor a year and a half ago. I'm not overweight, so in a way bad habits and therefore bad blood levels of different kinds sneak up on you without you knowing it. I tried different things, but it was the skating that totally defined my turnaround. After over a year of skating 4-5 times a week, my health is so much stronger. Best thing of all is that I finally don't crave sugar anymore, which is a new feeling. Even if I'm hungry, I don't feel like sweets. I heard on the radio that exercising strengthens your insulin's sensitivity, and that's why. Thing is though, if I stop now, my muscles would go to fat. No turning around.

JimEIV

Haha...yeah. That was also in the same radio show, how many people fall back and gain weight. But this woman's advise was to exercise lightly every day. Not like going to gym even, just not sitting still too much. Walking, fishing, whatever one wants to do. Trick really is to find something that one likes to do...otherwise there is no way I will keep doing it. Like running...wtf how boring is that.

Hm...I wonder if they didn't exaggerate a bit there for their own business? Like those dentists trying to fix stuff that doesn't need to be fixed. In any case, cardio training is boss. It's a muscle, the stronger it is, the longer we live. Pretty simple.

I took my backpack to the gym, tossed a 16kg kettle bell inside and "hiked" quickly up a steep hill(on the elliptical, with pretty high resistance) for 1.5 miles today(yeah, not that far, but it was my first day and I was tired). It was a good workout, and emulated hiking pretty well, to be honest. I'm going to "train" with more weight on my back than I'll have in the real world, so that it feels like nothing walking around with a 20 lb pack

Maybe I can hire you to pack out deer.

Had to do this project for one of my communication class. It's supposed to be a PSA that addresses a health issue. I asked her if it could be a sort of parody of a health issue and she agreed. After a few hours of editing and cutting and whatnot, this is the result. Hopefully you guys don't think it sucks and realize that it is obviously a joke.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RThKAQ1nuw4&feature=youtu.be

Also, if you guys would be so kind as to suggest ideas for the "side effects" section, that would be great. I couldn't really think of anything too funny.

Keep in mind, it probably won't be seen by anyone who knows a ton about hockey so maybe no board or hockey memes.

I didn't like the song with the video. Maybe I can't focus enough but with the scrolling symptoms it was a little hard to read & comprehend with the lyrics being sung. Maybe a musical background that is instrumental only. It is a fun idea and should be received well in class...good job of thinking outside the box!

I can definitely see that. Chose that song because of the hook kicking in right as Kovalchuk scores. I thought it fit pretty well, but I can definitely see where you're coming from. I'll have to explore some other music options.

Maybe instead of "in the playoffs for the past 15 years", say "One of the most successful franchises in the last two decades". Also mentioning Marty (record for most wins and shutouts), Stevens (one of the best defensemen of all time), Niedermayer (one of the best defensemen of all time, winner at every level). Maybe a mention of Stanley Cups and division/eastern conference championships too.

Wedding is on Saturday, we're leaving the following Thursday. First class out there, then 5 nights on Oahu (staying in Waikiki), then 5 nights on Kauai, then 5 nights on Maui, flying first class to San Francisco, 3 nights there, then first class back.

Flights we used Continental miles straight up. 80k for first class round trip to/from Hawaii, open jaw (arriving in Honolulu, leaving from Maui) and a stopover in San Francisco (maximizing the mileage redemption and giving us a break from that long-*** flight)
5k for each of the island hopper flights (Honolulu-Kauai and Kauai-Honolulu-Maui)
= 90k Continental Miles Each

Pay using the gift cards for Hyatt Regency Waikiki and Hyatt Regency Maui. Upgrade HR Maui using Ultimate Rewards points converted into Hyatt points(12,000 points total for the upgrade)

Book a suite in Grand Hyatt Kauai using Ultimate Rewards points converted into Hyatt points (165,000 points)

Total cost:
200,000 Capital One miles (each of us took out the venture card and got 100k miles each) converted into $3,000 of Hyatt gift cards
180,000 Continental miles (each of us took out the Continental card for 50k miles, plus miles earned from flying to/from Memphis)
157,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points (each of us took out the Chase Sapphire card and got 100k points each)
20,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points (we had from Steph staying at Hyatt her first 2 weeks in Memphis)
~$100 to cover the cost of the hotels in Hawaii + $30 for airline fees + however much the hotel in San Francisco costs (probably ~$150/night) + whatever our food and activities cost.

Essentially, we each took out 3 credit cards and the sign up bonuses are providing us with ~$19,000 in value. Everyone thinks I'm crazy for doing these point/mile schemes until I tell them about this honeymoon :D

Also, we're going to sign up for the Hyatt Diamond Challenge, which gives you diamond status if you stay 12 nights within a 60 day period or something.. That will net us ~5k hyatt points and a couple suite upgrade certificates that we can use to upgrade to a suite the next few times we stay at Hyatt after this. And free upgrades to the best room available while we're in Waikiki and San Francisco

also i kinda messed up the wording its supposed to say because paralell and series resistors are in paralell

god how pathetic am i. i pulled out paper and ran through it myself. and liked it. god i'm such a nerd.

the multiply by 10 helps cancel the I3 factor, but I never would have thought to do that myself. it makes sense when you see it like that, but I probably would have tried to make a different substitution instead.

so, i wouldn't have come up with that on my own. at least not right away, so to answer your question, i have no idea how you should know to do that, but i'm sure there are multiple ways to solve the system. this one is probably just the most straight forward.

I just spent the morning helping with my son's preschool class with my mother. Helping the kids put their Valentine's projects in each others envelope was something to see..haha. It was a lot of fun and I am thrilled I took the morning off to do this. My boy is the one on the bottom. They were watching a Franklin Valentine's episode.

The second sleep system is a quilt from enlightened equipment. Extra Wide, 20 degree quilt, overfilled 30 percent, should be good down to about 10-15 degrees with a good hat and good warm clothes on.. Hand made in the United States, and weighs under 2 pounds. That is mind boggling.

Three threads and Saugus has 138 posts in just those three threads. Clearly, he would have posted in other threads and on the main board as well. Get a life.

I don't personally know him but appears to be a good guy. I just don't understand how he posts so much. I get it he is trying to have the most on the entire forum but who really cares? He posts so much nothing it is incredible, straight out of Seinfeld. I haven't even looked at HF since last week and find it impossible to keep up with things there when I do. Just so much activity and so many posts on HF that I can't hold a job and be a parent while keeping up with everything.

I know it's a sorta joke, but it's frightening how close to the truth that is. And Vonbonds took the words out of my mouth. I get that alot of the posts are basically just chatting/IM'ing other people that are around, but still, less is more sometimes. I think I spammed the place too much and he's totally blown me out of the water. Took me around 5 years to get to 30K, he did 60K in half the time or less.

And it's all useless. There is absolutely zero substance to anything he says. He's a nice guy and all, but God damn, on HF, he's a post monkey. Again, I realize the irony of that statement. But I stopped posting there since about December, and he was 2,000 posts ahead of me or something. He's now about 14,000 posts ahead of me, which means, from December when we started here, to now, he's got 12,000 posts. That's in, two months of posting. Say, 30 days in a month, times two, is 60, divide that by 12,000 and he's got 200 posts per day. 200 per day. Just fathom that. And he supposedly has a job??? No wonder his gf dumped him. She was probably like, **** me. And he said OK, but had the laptop right beside him so he could post during sex.

Yes, he is. A super nice guy and I like him a lot. I just don't understand how someone posts that much. I've got 62 some odd thousand. That's over eight years of HF, which is 2,920 days. That, divided by 62,000 is 21.32 PPD. He's been around for two and a half years and he has 76 odd thousand. That's 912 days. Divided by his 76K that amounts to 83.33 PPD. And it seems like that post count is shooting right up every day.

Here's how it was for me, and I'll admit I'm guilty of spamming just to try and keep up with him to try and have the most on the board until I realized, resistance is futile, and really, who cares?

But, while watching games, and I've seen em all except when I'm in India, which is two trips in the eight years I've been on HF. I like to talk about the game, obviously, I can't do that at home, because I'm one of the only Devils fans around, so it's hard to keep conversation, so, I turn to HF for that outlet to talk about my team that I care about. My job isn't full-time, and most of it involves sports.

I keep on HF because news is there all the time and it helps me with my broadcasts and my career, so I know what's going on in the sports world at all times, which is really beneficial to me expanding my knowledge databank for work. That way, I know what's going on, and of course, in reading all that stuff, I comment on it too, because someone will say something stupid, or interesting that gets my attention.

At least, that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

And the school part is right too, Teddy. From 04 when I joined to 10, I was in school and I was bored in law clerk and general arts, so I was on HF when the teacher was rambling. When I was in broadcasting, I was on, because, well, as I explained before. And I never studied in clerk or arts, because, I really didn't care. In broadcasting, sports is my life, so, again as I explained just above.

Majority of mine are arguing with people or insulting other teams while watching CI. It's easy that way. Now I work overnights, don't watch late games and I don't like alot of the posters there, so my post count will go to ****.

I get college kids with high post counts. You are all connected today and usually have more free time than people with full time jobs. I am with DF, the analysis is frightening when you start to do the math on his post count frequency in the short period of time. And when I was more active on HF it always felt like Saugus was building steam with more posts each week than the last. He is a genuine posting machine. If there is a message board addiction disease he has it..lol.

I don't care if you post 500 a day as long as you have something to say which you always do (and everyone else here). I think that is our major problem with Saugus. He just pollutes threads with nothing.
