I had a feeling you would enjoy them. It was a great day. I got to go to Sugarbush for free (I haven't been there before). The conditions weren't amazing but I still had a great time. I know it looks like there is a good amount of snow, but the trails were icy. It really needs to snow a good 2 feet here.

It is a 7 day cruise so a few days at sea. We opted for the "Mac Daddy" package and that is the part I am most excited about.

I think we are also going to take a 3 day weekend in D.C. this month to hit a few museums. My boy is obsessed with dinosaurs so I really want to hit a natural museum soon while he is still mesmerized by them.

I am just at a point in my life where I work so much that I desperately need vacations to not only go on but to look forward to throughout the year.

Krinkle
02-04-2012, 21:24
Boxes:

10 per

NYG - PATS
1 0
2 6
9 9
8 1

Those pretty much blow, except 8 and 1, 31-28 Pats would make my fucking day

20/per

NYG - PATS
8 6
9 3

The 6 fucks you good , combine that with an 8 which is only good for a final, not too hot - 3 and 9 is the same thing, one number is good early on the other for a final.

The big guy - 100 per:

NYG - PATS
1 6
9 7

Not sure how I feel bout those, it pays for reversal of the final score too which is nice, but still - either of those are a stretch - it'd have to be a blowout in the end: 27-19 or 21-6 and c'mon that's not happening, but COULD happen at halftime or the 3rd. 19 to 17 is a possibility but I think this will be a much higher scoring affair than the last time round

Devilsfanatic
02-04-2012, 21:25

Krinkle
02-04-2012, 21:31
No idea what any of this means.

Imagine a 10 by 10 grid, X axis is one team, Y axis is another.

For a certain price you buy a box, your name is put at a certain X, Y coordinate. Obvioulsy 1 of 100 coordinates

Once all boxes are filled up, random numbers from 0 to 9 are assigned to each of the 10 slots on the X and Y axis.

Fractions of the money collected are paid out to the holder of the box with the 1's digit of the scores. So if its New England 17 and New York 14 at the end of the first quarter, the person at New England 7 and New York 4, wins the first quarter prize

The game goes on for each period, prizes are normally doled out as 12.5 percent first quarter, 25 second, 12.5 percent 3rd and 50 percent final score.

So the easy break down is 20 bucks a box, that's 2,000 dollars. Typically it'll be 250 for the end of the 1st, 500 for the half, 250 for the 3rd quarter and a grand for the final score. There's been a lot of changes in it with boxes touching get their money back for that box (obviously lowers the prize payout) and reversals, so if you had NY with 7 and Pats with 4 in the above, you'd get a consolation payout.

i do love the team and the game. and we do go to/watch alot of games together. but we love it. it's so much fun. it's all his fault too. i never watched a hockey game till we started dating. as i've mentioned before our first valentines day was a game at CAA. my first and only game there. since then i've gradually got more and more into it. i'm still behind on a lot of history and i don't really know jack about other teams and other players. fantasy helps, but i'm still way behind.

we have other things that we do alone. i'm really into SWE and stuff and he's got his camping and cars. although we do the car stuff together sometimes too. but yeah we've got out own stuff too. hockey just isn't one of them.

I tried when Trots showed up, don't look at me. He writes "well", he's incredibly confident in what he says whether he's right or wrong, he hates the Rangers and he's like some kind of message board god. You can't get rid of those people easily. His whole act is lame and for an old person to pull the carpetbagger act to jump from an awful franchise to a mediocre one, that's carpetbagging of the highest degree.

I don't blame him for dropping the Islanders. Sports are supposed to be fun and being an Isles fan can't be fun at all anymore. Life is too short to support an awful franchise.

So, I was at goodwill on Saturday and saw this cool looking 80's CD player for $2.99. I figured "eh, what the hell, I'll buy it. Who knows if it works, but if it doesn't, it's only $3."

The thing works perfectly, and it turns out it's a pretty high-end CD player, in the rare anthracite color (they made them in black and anthracite, everyone wanted black). The black ones go for $150 on ebay. This one will probably be worth more.. It sounds FANTASTIC, though, so I'm undecided if I'm going to sell it or keep it. the guitar sounds like it's coming out of an amplifier instead of out of a CD player.

therein lies the danger. once I get used to better quality stuff, the more budget-friendly things aren't going to do it for me.
I had my hands on one of these: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/speakers-audio/wireless-music-systems/devices/7934
that I got for 1/2 price, but decided that I better not even open the box because I knew it would open a huge can of worms that I don't want to open (yet)

Now I'm regretting that decision (even though it netted me a cool $400 profit)

Now that I have $200 IEMs (used to cost $400, now they're closing them out and cost $200, but i only paid $95 for them) it's tough to listen to even my very solid $100 IEMs, because I know how much more there is to the music

Put them up high on a shelf? Or at the very least, make sure you store them in a dry area and take them out every couple years to clean them and give them a little use so they don't die on you. Do you have an attic? I learned at an early age that the stuff in my attic was my dad's and don't touch it unless he's around (probably from getting spanked). to be honest, i was a pity invite anyway to this whole thing. it's for SWE. i found the keynote sponsor for the conference and introduced them to the planning committee and now i'm roped into the whole planning process that i really have no say in, no input on, or any interest in hearing about. but i still call in, say hi, put it on mute and try to notice if they say my name at all.

and like today, they did their whole thing and at the end they asked if me or a few other people had something to add, one of the others chimed in, and after they were done, everyone was like, ok we're good here and hung up. i did have something to add, but it was easy enough to follow up with an email anyway, so i don't really care.

I work for something like a 40K person company and as of 1/1/2012 Mac is on the approved computer list for employees. I have been using a Mac for work for 2 years now with a machine purchased out of my own pocket. For what I do in sales a Mac is a lot easier for data analysis than a Windows machine is with my knowledge set.

That model has just been discontinued. I have an iMac from 2008 and it runs great still. Having UNIX under the covers is what has sold me on them. As a former UNIX admin I can get into the nuts and bolts if required (and it hasn't been so far to maintain it). It may sound funny but I am not nearly as proficient with Windows as probably most people are. I just know my Mac rarely crashes and I push it pretty hard with all of the photo editing I do.

If you don't mind using the same computer for 5 years or so I would say it probably isn't as expensive as it looks. I never had a Windows PC last more than 3 years before it felt like it was stuck in mud. I paid $1,500 or thereabouts for my iMac and it will easily last 5 years.

I usually end up upgrading parts when I get them super cheap and/or want to play the latest game. My family desktop is 5 years old now and running strong. It used to be my younger brother's desktop at school, but when he graduated, I took the parts from that and tossed them into the old family desktop case. Prior to that, it was probably 4+ years old (computer from when my older brother went to school)

it takes a couple hours to backup stuff and reformat, and then your computer is as fast as when it was new. reformat every 2-3 years.. That's what I do. People whine and say "but but but you have to maintain your computer?"

no ****, of course you do. Macs will slow down something fierce if you don't maintain them. Maybe you don't have to reformat them every 2-3 years, but I'd prefer spending 3 hours every 2 years and saving $1k

Unless those parts were free you are adding money into the PC. I guess my point is whatever I shell out for the hardware at the time of purchase is all I do which means a Mac usually isn't as expensive as people think as typically additional hardware isn't added after initial purchase. Trust me I am not a Mac Nazi and have a close family member perfectly happy with his WIndows 7 computer. It is just different horses for different courses.

we needed 2 computers at the time my younger brother went to school (one for him to take to school, one for us) and when he graduated, I turned the 2 computers into 1. i replaced the video card ($120) and added 2 gigs of ram ($20) so that I could play the new fallout game. no mac purchased in the 3 years prior to that game coming out would have been able to play it without an upgrade, so I don't particularly consider that as "adding money into the pc". I could have kept the old video card and not played the game, I guess, in which case I wouldn't have had to add money into it.

What's so bad about upgrading a computer anyway? If I drop $150 every 2 years to upgrade my computer and strategically replace parts when I want to play a new game or w/e, that could easily get me by.

Also, my home desktop has a higher-end video card, 5 hard drives, 2 dvd burners and a card reader, and an overclocked processor. I highly doubt a mac has a power supply and/or the expansion ports necessary to power all that ****.. Most of the hard drives are from a server I built while at school >6 years ago (so I could share multiple terabytes of movies/music/tv shows), and they're still going strong. home-built computers kick ***. :)

You should organize a resume party with coworkers in the same situation. Help each other work on them. I have done that years ago with a few friends that were in my field of work.

We went last year to a different place on our own and we spent one day a resort before leaving. It was a running joke....By me any way.

After the fishing was over we were hanging out at the pool and there was no one there. In a split second, all of a sudden there was like 100 people in the pool and a DJ set up in the middle of the pool. Everyone had drinks in the pool and they were all dacing. I really think the hotel brought in prop chicks to dance around the pool. The whole thing looked staged. It went from quiet hotel pool to MTV pool party in literally 10 minutes...

My wife was like lets get out of here. We typically like chill atmospheres. And I said, Are you kidding??? Look at all that booty! I want to stay and see what happens.

The thing is I'm never quite sure when I'm going to get a laugh or get in trouble when I say these things. But I think the not knowing makes it all the more fun.

This time with our extra days before leaving we are staying in quiet beach cabana in Tulum. So I don't expect the booty this time.

I just PM'd you with my cell phone number. If you get the job lets talk. I live about 55 minutes south of Conshy in the town listed in my profile. I really like the Philly area. Technically yes. It's bullshit that there isn't parking at the gym. It is nearly impossible for me to get from the gym to home to change and then get to class. I guess I could bring a change of clothes but it is so annoying. The point is I pay enough money to go to school here that I should be able to park at the gym.
