I would have been very happy if this team was on the bubble all year and found their way in on the last weekend. Now I want a respectable showing in the postseason

What's the catch?

I'm blackmailing someone who I believe to be a masked vigilante, after I found blueprints for a car that was pancaking cop cars on the news.

that was one of the more solid team wins of the year

god damn was that third line doing work tonight

Harold had a really steady game out there tonight. Played a sound game.

Yep, he's earned another game.

Had to work for the entirety of this one. Someone care to summarize?

Really poor start. Like the first two minutes, then took over and controlled the play. Montreal's goal came on the PP and it was on a scramble that really didn't need to be. Marty was solid, the D, despite losing Salvador to illness and Volchenkov briefly to a shot block to the face, was outstanding. Volch and Greener had 9 blocks each.

We had trouble getting the puck out of the zone in the third again. Montreal is such a poor team that they couldn't take advantage of it but it is still something that greatly concerns me.

If we do that in the playoffs we're going to be pulverized and fast.

Hope PDB sorts it out.

Devilsfanatic

It's not on PDB, it's on the players. They stop doing what makes them successful in the first two periods. They don't stay aggressive on the puck possession and let the team come at them. He rolls the right lines, but they decide playing it safe is the way to go. I seriously doubt he's saying hey, bring it back a notch.

At some point, you gotta stop blaming the coach and call out the players.

I don't think it is the Devils not playing the same so much as their opponents go into another gear the Devils can't match in the third period. A steady diet of aggressive forechecking is still this teams #1 problem.

i mentioned it on hf, but i fucking love that third lines possession/cycling ability. if they can find a better nose for the net, they will be deadly. i feel like they might pick it up in the playoffs so if theyre saving their goals for that, then im cool with that. ive also been pleased with bernier. you can see the talent is there. i hope he can put it back together and chip in in a sykora like manner.

Yep, they're big and physical. Just dominate the cycling.

Zajac can make that line even better too.

Any news on him or larsson?

Larsson skating, Zajac not yet

Do you think he reinjured it or are the just being extra careful

pariseforpresident
02-20-2012, 09:54
Who knows. At this point they are probably just being cautious and making sure he's at 100% for Game 1 in April

With an injury like that it's good for him to stay away from a pair of hockey skates for as long as possible

pariseforpresident
02-20-2012, 10:03
But the longer he's away the longer it takes to get back to full speed. It's a very delicate balance. Hopefully the medical staff is right for once.

How do you think the lines would look w him in?
Parise-henny-kovi and zubrus/bernier are the only things that are sure for me everything else is subject to change IMO.

Parise-Henrique-Kovalchuk
Zubrus-Zajac-Poni
Sykora-Elias-Clarkson

is what I'd try. that ZZP unit would be absolutely unstoppable along the boards

This is what I think too. Possibly swap Clarkson and Zubrus.

Yeah, I think that's what I would go with too. Switching Zubrus and Clarkson would work too.

Bernier-josefson-jam cannsen?
4th line?

Carter

Janssen won't play in the playoffs. if anything, it'll be Boulton

Dr. Doom

I'd prefer Bernier-Josefson-Carter, but for some reason I think it will end up being Boulton-Carter-Bernier.

I'd prefer:

Parise-Henrique-Kovalchuk
Sykora-Elias-Zubrus
Ponikarovski-Zajac-Clarkson
Kovalchuk/Parise-Josefson-Bernier

Tallinder-Larsson
Salvador-Greene
Volchenkov-Fayne
Foster

Swap in whoever we pick up in a trade for whoever is the worst of the bunch (whether it be a forward or a defenseman) and run 11F and 7D
