Ehh the first period, I felt we just looked badly out matched, not many battles won, them breaking out of our zone with ease, and a lot of sitting back from us
Second we played more of our kind of game - good boards work, pressure, and physical
A little better, but alot of the same stuff, they just backchecked a few times when it looked like they were going to get scored on.
Weird team, they thrive on chaos and have no idea what to do when order is restored. If they try to sit back, watch.

Basically I just hope that was enough of a gut punch that Boston doesn't come out with much, but I doubt it because they're not playing games for the sake of playing games right now. Ottawa is catching up with them
Dr. Doom

There are 3 saves in the first that Marty made that were huge in being able to help make the game where it currently is for us
(Across the crease save on Seguin, SH breakaway for them believe it was Krejci, and the puck that trickled behind him that he grabbed)
but i thought marty sucked :sarcasm:

Marty has let in a couple soft goals, but hedberg would have gotten lit up too. They've been having a lot of trouble breaking out of the zone and completing passes lately, and brodeurs puck handling has probably prevented numerous chances that Moose would have either not broken up or worse, misplayed the puck leading to even more dangerous chances.. Even if hedberg had played as well as marty or even better, the team hasn't been scoring goals. They'd lose these games anyway!
Finally, the odds of us making the playoffs are very high right now, and it's extremely important that we get Marty confident and on top of his game going into the postseason.
Sorry it took so long for me to respond, I was typing on my phone.

It's not that Marty should have played all of these games, they broke their goalie rules pretty bad lately. It's just that this is an offensive team, they are a mess, and they need to score goals to overcome that

They went 8-1-1 by the skin of their teeth. It's the style of hockey they play. That makes them 8-4-2 over the last whatever. Even that is probably a little over their heads.

But on that stretch they played with a fucking clue on the ice in both ends. Tonight was a disaster in the first, followed by a wake up call in the second with still scary defensive moments that Marty completely bailed them out on - and that third and OT - another disaster.
It amazes me how bad this team is from the circles on in - they just can't finish a play to save their lives. I refuse to believe it was just puck luck that got us 8 wins out of 10 tries, because the last few nights have just been shitcapades.

I got flamed bad on HF for criticizing Zidlicky since he came. Just want to know if you guys agree he hasn't been good, or if you agree with HF.
I was one of the biggest critics of the deal that Lou made because I thought he gave up too much for a 2nd line d-man. I still think Foster is better than he's given credit for by Devils fans here and at the other site.
The thing is, Zidlicky (and to some extent Foster) is suffering from what Tallinder and Volchenkov suffered from last season ... having a hard time adjusting to a new team and new teammates and a new system. You'd think it'd make it easier with the way the Devils play, but you never know how a guy is going to adjust to playing in a new situation.
I think Zidlicky is suffering both from having been benched before his trade and from his difficulties adjusting. Probably also from too high expectations (team, himself, Devils fans) about his play.
I believe it`s not just about Zidlicky not being adjusted yet. It`s also about them not being comfortable playing with a defenseman who`s not scared to go down low and play the puck (Larsson takes it to the boards where he feels safe thanks to his style of play). He likes short passes, a lot. They don`t know how to cover for him yet.
He needs to work on his skating this offseason. I am surprised at his speed or lack thereof. Both skating and condition. That plays a huge part in the later stages of the game.
You're done playing with the monkeys over there and need stimulating conversation?Meh, I don`t post nearly as much as I used to (GDTs).

He is pretty short with a large head. He`s about 6ft tall, just like me, but weights more than 210 lbs. The guy was a tank.
The tallest player I`ve ever met was 6ft7 (>240lbs) Vladimir Mihalik (former Bolts prospect), haven`t had a chance to meet Chara yet, but that guy was huge. Can`t imagine being Martin St.Louis and going in the corners with one of them.

Yeah, I left him alone, just sneakpeaking at him all the time, lol. Him and a buddy were going to London for the weekend to watch an Arsenal game, apparently he's an Arsenal fan.
At one point he needed a landline, he was constantly checking his iPad and phone, so he asked one of the servers if he could use the hotel's phone just next to there. So he did, and then later when they were leaving, he was standing there. His friends was like "come on, we need to go" but Forsberg said, "no, wait". And then finally, that server came out so he went and thanked her, then they could leave. That was pretty nice. And no, it was not some hot chick, it was an old lady. He just seemed so completely normal, non-full-of-himself kind of type.
Arsenal was playing at Liverpool today. I doubt he`s a Gunners fan. Many Swedes are Liverpool fans, even Loui Eriksson is.
Foppa is a great human being, you could sense that from his behavior/interviews. Good to hear you confirm the fact.
