I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Danobeard.

Oh yeah, Danobeard in 2003 was pretty bawse too. I remember Nieuwy could never grow one, so he always went with the goatee.

Being the accountant that I am, I made a spreadsheet of the Devils playoff results since moving to New Jersey. The results:

http://www.fantasyhockeycoach.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=611&d=1334319958

http://www.fantasyhockeycoach.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=609&d=1334319958

Based on the historical trend, the Devils should last until the end of the second round / beginning of the third round, play approximately 11 or 12 games and have 6 wins.

For this to happen, the Devils would need to win the first round 4-1 (5 games) and lose in the second round 2-4 (6 games).

It's not completely unlikely, but past actions aren't necessarily the best predictors of future actions. It'll be interesting to see if the Devils can outperform the trend.

Just for the record, back in November, I estimated the number of games the Devils would win and points they would have by the end of the season (http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?p=39604801&highlight=table#post39604801). I estimated 103 points for the season (the Devils had already had 19 points, I guessed they'd end up with 84 more). They ended up with 102. I had them going 39-20-6 in that span and they actually went 39-21-5.

If they end up doing what I said in the playoffs, I'm going to use all this **** and become a professional prognosticator and use these posts as a reference (or not).

I could see this being a really nice line. Henrique has a little Parise in him :sarcasm: in the way he plays hard and drives the net and seems to find the open spot. He could be a lesser version of Parise.
This just might be the way to get the Kovalchuk-Zajac-Parise line concept to work without actually having Parise and Kovalchuk on the same line.
Parise-Zajac-[Kovalchuk 2.0*]
Kovalchuk-Zajac 2.0**-Parise 2.0***
*need to find this guy ... and don't say Landeskog DF
**Josefson

I think if Palmieri can play in the Devils top 6, then almost anyone can. Henrique may or may not have the skill to play in the top 6. Who knows really? I just think his hussle and ability to find the right spot on the ice reminds me a little of Parise.
I also don't think Tedenby is anything like Kovalchuk to be a 2.0. He is a little waterbug floating around everywhere. Kovalchuk thrives on two plays, skating around everyone with the puck and shooting/losing it or getting to somewhere in between the top of the circles and the hash marks and unloading a blast when someone passes it to him. Tedenby isn't a big shot at all. He's a sneaky player.

I'm sick of this Panthers haven't been in the playoffs in 12 years.

Upshall was there last year, Jovanovski was there last year, Goc was there last years, Bergenheim was there last year, Campbell was there last year, Versteeg was there last year, Fleischmann was there last year, Kopecky was there last year, Samuelsson was there last year. Sturm has been there, Wolski has been there, Theodore has been there, Weaver has been there, Madden has been there.

In fact, out of their hockey club, only Matthias, Garrison, Gudbranson, Weiss and Kulikov haven't been there. Out of all of those, only Weiss has been around 10 years.

The Panthers have 700+ games of playoff experience on their resume. Lets not act as if they've struggled together for 12 years and have finally made it together.

Unfortunately this is how 75% of team announcers act around the league. People ***** and moan about Steve and Chico but I don't think they realize how bad most crews are.

Oh yeah. I thought he was with the Yotes. When did they deal him to CBJ? Wasn't it last year for Klesla? Or I guess it was the year before. Either way, the Panthers haven't made it since 2000 is such a crock.

My color man was a real homer when I did games, I'd have to tell him to put the pom-poms away.

I had to sit through that. It was like two fans in the cheap seats calling the game.

He was traded last year but he was injured the first year the yotes made it. So the last time he played was with the Flyers.

Also you should have called him out on the air.

I was really thinking of going to this game. No fucking way I drive up from south of Philly to see the same defensive pairings..specifically Volch in the lineup.

That said, Larsson was out late doing extra work at the end of practice today and it look like he was going to play tomorrow.

I called Deboer and told him to put Larsson in. He and I go way back
