If anything, team play, collective and all that is about never cheating on the play for the next guy on your team. Parise never cheats, Elias neither. Fayne, Salvador, Green etc. Great collective guys, actually. We got scored on because people make individual mistakes. None of those has been Parise. Way too many have been Volchenkov. Those things won't go away because some captain starts hell in the locker room. People want to believe it is that easy, but some locker room speeches won't make dumb players smarter.

Losing Parise would be devastating. If he doesn't make that typical Parise backcheck right before the OT goal, which comes from his monster work ethic, there is no OT goal.

If he buries his chances, there's no OT. Tonight, two unlucky bounces go the Panthers way they were in the back of the net. One off Poni's skate and the other some pinball ****.

When you're paid the big bucks to move your team forward, you need to perform. He wasn't bad tonight, he wasn't great. If he leaves, he leaves. I still don't think he's leaving though.

I'm sick of Wyshynski. The guy called this tedious and that Brodeur allowed a soft goal on the Versteeg one. It hit a skate and changed directions, you know nothing halfwit.

Well he's not wrong in the fact that Marty was not great tonight. We won and he didn't give up the 3rd goal so it doesn't matter.

That said I still have the utmost confidence in him in a big game. Is it misplaced, **** if I know.

But Marty made the big saves at the end. I hope he can get the demons of the last game seven out of his head.

We went dancing after dinner and as soon as we walked in I saw Pierre interviewing Zach and I knew we won in OT beacuse of how late it was.

Then I noticed he wasn't wearing his jersey and for a split second I thought maybe they lost and Pierre was asking about next season until I got close enough to see the final score graphic. Then I saw the highlight of Zajac's game winner. Sucks I'll have to watch game 7 online. Hoping for the later start. I'm missing the first period either way.

Live to play another game.

Win to play another series.

Wysh is a goof, a former message board poster who used bad wrestling analogies in his early writing, and then wanted to write that book where he took fans experiences and then sold them.

He's also a ripoff artist. It's more of a straightforward hockey blog now than it was before, but the awkward period between it being a dorky internet blog and being more of a "writer" type product, man was he a ripoff artist.

Where did he post?

Couple of places. He predates this type of format, as do I. I know he was a poster or at least a "sorta" poster on NJDevs. I've been posting about hockey longer than I'd like to admit.

I mean, I don't begrudge these writer guys, I did pretty much a closed door experiment writing (alright, there were a *few* readers/viewers, but I mean very few) that lasted over a year, just to see if I would be interested in doing it. It's alot of work, especially when you're doing it for nothing. So like Eklund or whoever, whatever, they put the effort out, but I think he's sort of ashamed of his fandom (which is weird because he was perfectly willing to SELL *our*, not *his* experiences, hell I don't even know if the book even exists and he just lifted stuff without asking for permission.) to appeal to the masses.

And he's a ripoff artist. At minimum, conceptually. But whatever, at least he's doing something with it, I've been ripped off word for word in the past... for *message boards*. THAT, I do not understand. That's one of the events that actually led to me cloaking and going to HF.

It sucks though when you see a bunch of your concepts morph into that. During the season it doesn't bother me, but if I go on there and see a story about Ovechkin riding a segway, it's like "Jester (his board tag), you ****"

He's Jester?

There's probably more than one, but yes, that's his tag. He was also one of my readers, although a lurker. I tried to draw him out occasionally, but couldn't. I'd basically just do a rundown of silly stories over the course of a week or so and a bunch of them would end up on Puck Daddy written by him. Obviously not word for word, but conceptually. I write goofy, he writes goofy. What got him past being a blogger and being a paid blogger was being able to actually translate his goofiness into the hockey world.

Writing about Kane constantly in NHL blog articles does not make you money, but writing about dumb things that happen in the league, with the players, broadcasters, etc, does. Now he's crossed over, but in the summer you still see those retarded stories, just less of them, because I'm not giving him a pipeline.

Screw the NFL draft.

I can get how people not from 'Merica don't get our obsession with the NFL. There is no other game that I am aware of that is as tactical and strategic as football, specifically at the professional level. Coaches have a HUGE impact on the outcome of the game as often it is the teams with the better specific game plan for their opponent win more often than not. GM's are an extension of their coaching staff as the good teams typically take the "best player available" at their specific position of need that fit the style of play the coaching staff utilizes. In the NHL you will see the "BPA" taken quite often by teams that are already strong at that position (think Edmonton taking RNH over Larsson even though that was a position of need for them). That doesn't happen nearly as often in the NFL.

If you didn't already know the NFL stands for "Not For Long". Teams are always in a win now mindset because there is always someone knocking on their door to take their job away for both the players and coaches/GM's.

And when Parise walks know that it'll be because of Kovalchuk and his contract.

honestly, what's the difference between kovalchuk and parise? one's a floater who has tonnes of skill and no heart but gets things done except when the going gets tough. the other's a scrounger who has okay skill and lots of heart and doesn't really get things done, especially when the going gets tough.

at the end of the day, both are chokers. whether you like the finesse and flair of one or the grit and heart of the other is inconsequential.

i'll take a stevens or dano any day of the week. for that matter, i'd take a grant marshall or a claude lemieux over either.

but he's probably not a 4th liner either. third line seems like a good place for him, with clarkson and someone else who can handle both sides of the puck (preferrably zubrus or henrique).

Yeah but half our centers shouldn't be centers. Henrique is a winger at the pro level. Elias is a winger. Clarktard is a winger. Zubrus is a winger. The only two guys who were good at draws were Zajac and Josefson. You know actual centermen.

Big#D
04-25-2012, 08:52
Oates should be working with Josefson, Henrique, Clarkson and Zubrus in the offseason every fucking day until they get it (Elias is a lost cause). Carter and Poni and Bernier could be added to that list for good measure as well.

Big#D
04-25-2012, 09:05
i see no purpose to ever draft a winger, especially in the top rounds, unless the guy is going to be a superstar. you get a better all around player with a centre and you can always shift them over if needed. when you get to the bottom rounds, no one really cares. draft a killer and hope he eventually kills all the competition.

What a dumb start time. If you start at 7:30, you're still offset of the the other game. You drop at 7:40, get off the ice at roughly 8:15 or so, get back on at 8:30, get off at 9:05, leaving the last 15-20 minutes of the other game open, then you get back on at 9:20 and get out at 9:55.

If you start at 8:30, you start at roughly 8:40, which is in the ballpark of when the 3rd period starts in the other game.

They want to get 2 periods at least on NBCSN. The game is not On CNBC because of that heavily promoted Cosco special. So it is starting on NHLN and they are trying to get as much of it as possible on NBCSN after the other game. Thus the late start

Well, keep in mind, the geniuses that booked a bunch of grocery store specials into that slot, are paying $2B to broadcast the hockey games.

Well, I can't imagine too many people being interested in a show about Costco. There's one about Walmart on now. Yeah, I really care about that. You want a show about Walmart, do some kind of Tom Green guerrilla video type show.

That'd be a show. Otherwise you're just pumping up a place that pays people $3 an hour and destroys local businesses to sell cheap Chinese ****. Only a minor exaggeration.

So, yesterday was Marty's worst game of the series. O-kay. And these people are watching on TV. Gave up one awful goal, other one hit 64 things on the way in and even live you could tell it hit Poni.

But somehow that was worse than the game where he was justifiably pulled in the middle of it.
