The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goaltender Anders Lindback (AHN-dehrs LIND-bahck) to a two-year contract, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.

Lindback, 24, played in 16 games this past season with the Predators, compiling a record of 5-8-0 to go along with a 2.42 goals against average and a .912 save percentage. The 6-foot-6, 203-pound goaltender has appeared in 38 career NHL games, all with Nashville, registering a 16-13-2 record, with a 2.53 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. One of the league's tallest goaltenders, Lindback made his NHL debut on October 9, 2010 against the Anaheim Ducks in a relief effort. He made seven consecutive starts from December 4-17 during the 2010-11 season, posting a 6-0-1 record with a 1.43 goals against average and a .949 save percentage.

How many games do you think we will see Lindback get this season?

I think they will say that he will be a 50/50 with whoever ends up #2, but I also think that he may take the reins and run with it.

That is if Helenius doesn't come in and play like the beast that he was in Europe... AND he's already used to a full #1 workload.

I've been hearing all kinds of good things about Helenius. A 1.64 GAA and .963 save percentage?! I can't wait to see what he does in Tampa Bay.

I've always really liked Helenius. He was thrown into a really tough situation here when he was too young to be in said situation. He was playing with almost no team in from of him and STILL almost managed to hold his own... and that was a few years back. He then got the short end of the stick and was pretty much banished to Europe.

He's gotten better and better and I am SO excited at the thought that he may finally be ready to do it properly equipped now.
