It was a practice day in Nashville, two week from Christmas.

The Ducks had lost, yet again, the previous night in St. Louis. From where they sat, it was easier to see Helsinki than the playoffs.

Teemu Selanne was 41, two time zones away from his four kids, surrounded on this team by incompetence and reticence, the pointlessness hovering over every head but his.

"Smile!" he said brightly. "It's a great day."

You have to love Teemu's attitude!

I know exactly what you mean, Mishey. Teemu makes me cry on a regular basis.

Selanne thinks he is Gordie Howe and can play for ever. Howe played his last season at 51 so Temmu still has a few years to go to match Howe so hopefully this is not Selanne's last season.

I think other people think that he can play forever, not so much that he thinks he can. He stops to think if he wants another year or not every summer.

Hell. He looks like he could play forever.

Teemu says that as long as he is having fun when he is playing (and his knees hold out), he will continue to play. It definitely looked like he had a lot of fun this past season and hopefully he'll have a great time this year.
