As of this writing, it is Labor Day, which feels strangely apropos for the first NHL team preview of the 2012/2013 season. As of right now, the NHLPA and the owners are in a battle once again, and the collective bargaining agreement is about to expire. Last time the CBA was up for debate, the owners locked the players out for the entire season and then the players found themselves on the end of an awful deal on their behalf. Fortunately, things have gotten better for them since then, but now everything is up in the air once more.

Hopefully, we won't miss any games this season. Maybe, at worst, they will push the start back but play a full season. However, at the current moment, for all we know the season will begin on time, and so it feels right to start doling out team previews. Ideally, I shall give you two previews every weekday until all 30 teams are covered. The first team up, thanks to the alphabet, is the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks got off to a poor start last season, in part due to the struggles of Jonas Hiller early on. Randy Carlyle got fired, and Bruce Boudreau was brought in to save the day. They bounced back a bit, but they still finished with 80 points on the year with a -27 goal differential. Anaheim will certainly be hoping for a rebound.
