Jim Slater isnt about to abandon his bread and butter.

Despite producing a career-high 13 goals and 21 points for the Winnipeg Jets last season, Slater is in no danger of changing the style of play that got him to the NHL in the first place.

I know my role on this team and Im going to go out there every night and try to keep the other guys off the board, said Slater, who re-upped with the Jets for three years and $4.8 million ($1.6 million per season) before testing the waters of unrestricted free agency. I think Im capable of adding that scoring touch to this line and making sure were solid in every zone. I cant worry about the point production. Im going to stay positive and do my job to the best of my ability.
