Penguins Claim OT Win over Bears in AHL Outdoor Classic

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins rallied for a 2-1 overtime victory over the Hershey Bears at the 2013 Capital BlueCross AHL Outdoor Classic as Paul Thompson’s netted the game-winner at 1:19 of the extra session.

A scoreless tie would remain until 4:20 was left on the clock in the second period. Jon DiSalvatore forced a puck deep into the Penguins zone, where Jeff Taffe hit Tomas Kundratek in the high slot for a one-timer past Jeff Zatkoff.

Riley Holzapfel knotted the contest up at one in the third with 12:13 remaining. Thompson flipped the puck from near boards to an open area and Holzapfel caught up to it before unleashing a slapshot from the left circle that beat Dany Sabourin to the short side.
