Stanley Cup Finals
Will anyone be able to stop the Los Angeles Kings? 10-0 on the road these playoffs, WOW that’s impressive. Are the Kings going to sweep? LA TV station is calling for parade on Friday, @reporterchris tweeted - Host on KTLA local news in Los Angeles: "I think we're going to have a (Stanley Cup) parade by Friday."
Drew Doughty looks like he has put the bad year behind him and having fun. He is dominating out there, scoring goals and throwing hits. This is all great news for his fantasy owners. Doughty is my favourite to win Conn Smythe now.
Martin Brodeur is doing everything he can to win the Cup. He has been best player for the New Jersey Devils, keeping them in both games despite going down early in both. He could really use some goal scoring support; it will be interesting to see if Ilya Kovalchuk and Zach Parise are playing hurt, as they don’t look like themselves.
CBC announcers made a great point last night during overtime; they said that the Devils have played a full series more than the Kings. That just proves that the Kings are on an incredible run, having only loss twice.
A couple interesting tweets about the Finals:
@asktheduffer – “Red Wings (1942, 1966) only team ever to lose Stanley Cup final after opening best-of-7 series with 2 wins on road.”
@TSNResearch – “From ESB: LAK are 4th team in history to lead all 4 playoff series 2-0 (NYI-81, EDM-88, DET-08) and yes, all 3 won the SC”
Alexander Radulov going to the New York Rangers?
Twitter is all a buzz with rumors that the Rangers are talking with the Nashville Predators about Radulov.
Can you imagine Radulov on a line with Marian Gaborik and Brad Richards? Richards is an elite playmaker and would have snipers on either wing, which would be downright scary. Don’t forget Gaborik is out till December after shoulder surgery, freeing up cap space for the Rangers to add this contract.
Two questions with this rumor though: could Radulov actually play and succeed under John Tortorella? Will Radulov run off to the KHL again as he has an offer on the table from CSKA?
Norfolk Admirals Wins 8th Straight and 2 Wins Away From Calder Cup
Admirals beat the Toronto Marlies 4-2 last night to take a 2-0 lead in the Calder Cup finals.
Former Marlie Keith Aulie recorded 2 assists last night and finished with a +2 rating. Mike Angelidis and Evan Oberg both had 2 assists as well.
Richard Panik scored the opening goal and added an assist to go along with 4 shots on net.
Joe Colborne scored a power play goal to tie the game up in the 1st but that was as close as the Marlies got. Colborne, Mark Fraser and Korbinian Holzer all finished with a -3 rating.
After playing back-to-back games the Calder Cup takes several nights off with the next game not till Thursday. Who made this schedule? This is the finals, why schedule back-to-back games in the finals, let alone 2 sets of back-to-backs?
