The Cup Finals resumes for game six Monday night and from a fantasy perspective it has been confirmed that porn star Taylor Stevens will be behind the Devils bench again hoping to provide further distractions to Pete Deboer and the Devils.
Two games ago the Kings seems unbeatable and yet the Devils now have two wins under their belt giving this series some life. All along I have been hoping for a game seven. How many times did we all score the Stanley Cup winning goal on our drive way, or back yard rink dreaming as kids? Imagine a next goal wins scenario and how it would feel to be the one to score. I can imagine no greater feeling!
The Detroit Red Wings have traded Brad Stuart to the San Jose Sharks. Stuart will be a UFA on July first and began his career in San Jose, where he and his family still live full time. Stuart will no doubt sign with the Sharks and play a top four role along with Dan Boyle, Brent Burns, and M.A. Vlasic. Stuart is a stay at home defender who could lead the Sharks in hits, and be an anchor on the penalty kill. His fantasy value is rather limited unless you score hits, and blocked shots. A 20 point range player. Stuart and Douglas Murray will be the Sharks shut down pair and will take ice time away from Justin Braun and Jason Demers.
The Marlies had a very impressive AHL playoff in pursuit of the Calder Cup but were swept in the finals by Norfolk Admirals the Tampa Bay affiliate. The Marlies had loaded up players off the Leafs roster such as Jake Gardiner, and Matt Frattin who gained valuable experience. Injuries cost the Marlies in the end as Frattin, Nazem Kadri, Joe Colborne, and Mike Zigomanis were all injured.
Several players will have earned themselves a serious look at making the big club for next season including goalie Ben Scrivens. Should the leafs not be able to secure a veteran backer this off season. “He’s made it interesting,” Leaf general manager Brian Burke told Leafs TV on Saturday. “He’s in the hunt as a guy who might be able to play in the NHL as early as next year. He’s given us more to think about, more to worry about.”
