    Anders Lindback Traded to Bolts
The Tampa Bay Lightning believe they have got their goaltender for the now and the future. They acquired Lindback, Kyle Wilson and a seventh round draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft from the Nashville Predators for two second round draft picks in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, a third round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and Sebastien Caron.

Lindback is a tall goaltender at 6’6” and who was tutored by another tall goalie in Pekka Rinne. He has the potential to be an elite goaltender and will have a shot at being a number one this coming season. He has put up decent numbers in the NHL, last season he went 5-8-0, with a GAA of 2.42 and SV% of .912. The previous season he was 11-5-2, with two shutouts, GAA of 2.60 and SV% of .915. Playing behind Rinne wasn’t going to give him a lot of ice time as he only played in 16 games last season.

With only 38 NHL games and six AHL games under his belt it’s hard to gauge exactly how good he will be or if he can handle the workload of being a number one, but his upside is well worth the gamble. Lindback is still a RFA so there is no guarantee that he signs with Tampa Bay but they will be able to match any offer, while the Preds got something for an asset they were likely to lose.

His fantasy value moves up a ton, first he goes from a back up behind an elite goalie to a starter, so he will play a lot more games. Secondly, if he signs with Tampa he will be groomed to be their starter for many, many years and they are a very good young team. Expect him to start 50-60 games this coming season, so we should get to see what he could bring to a team over a full season. Finally, Steve Yzerman is a very smart GM, so if he is willing to gamble on Lindback so should you as a fantasy GM. Get him now before his value skyrockets.

    Rumor Mill
With the NHL Entry Draft just over a week away trade rumors are starting to pick up. Check out hockey-trades.com for some of the latest rumors. Here are a few of the latest:

Rick Nash – as many as seven teams have had ‘significant discussions’ with the Columbus Blue Jackets in the last 10 days according to tsn.ca. They suggest that the New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes have all expressed interest.

Evander Kane – according to twitter Kane is unwilling to re-sign with the Winnipeg Jets.

Alexander Semin – rumors are the Detroit Red Wings are interested in him to play alongside Pavel Datsyuk. As a Wings fan I sure hope not as he is very inconsistent, although the Wings do have a knack for getting the most out of unwanted/inconsistent players.

Jordan Staal – with the potential of the Pittsburgh Penguins signing Sidney Crosby long term they will need to create cap space and that space may come from moving Jordan. There are rumblings that he wants to play with his brother Eric in Carolina.

Ryan Suter – the Red Wings seem to be the front-runner here.

Zach Parise – he will test the open market but has said he will not sign with the New York Rangers.

Justin Schultz – sounds like he wants to sign with a Canadian NHL team. Vancouver Canucks, Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers are interested as well as the Rangers.

Roberto Luongo – with the Lindback trade to Tampa Bay that has officially eliminated the Lightning from acquiring Luongo. Toronto seems to be the number one target right now, but the question remains does Luongo want to play for an intense hockey media market like Toronto or go somewhere like Florida where he won’t be in the limelight so much.
