The Off Season is heating up!
Summer is upon us and things are heating up. With some major names in play this summer such as Rick Nash, Roberto Luongo, Patrick Kane, Zach Parise, Ryan Suter, Jay Bouwmeester and more the next few weeks could see some blockbuster deals.

    Going to Europe
Dmitry Chesnokov tweeted that Alex Radulov's agent spoke to a Russian news paper and that Radulov has decided where he will play next season suggesting it is the KHL. I highly recommend following Chesnokov on Twitter: @dchesnokov

Earlier it was reported that the New York Rangers were very interested in acquiring Radulov and that he was the plan B should they fail to acquire Rick Nash. Nothing official yet, but would anyone be surprised if he ends up in the KHL?

Samuel Pahlsson has signed with Modo of the SEL for next season. Phalsson had a long NHL career playing for Anaheim, Boston, Chicago, Columbus and finally in Vancouver. He won a Stanley Cup with Anaheim, and Olympic Gold with Sweden in 2006. His fantasy value was far below his NHL value, but he was an important piece in his championship winning teams.

    Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers are drafting first on Friday and it looks as if they are going to keep the pick. Who they choose to draft is still a mystery however. I can not imagine they do not select Nail Yakupov first overall. Clearly the Oilers already have prolific young offensive forwards with Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, the Nuge and are short on defense. Cam Barker needs to receive a qualifying offer by June 25th or he will become a unrestricted free agent.

The Oilers are known to be shopping Linus Omark after he tweeted he wants out of Edmonton and it is believed that Magnus Paajarvi could also be traded. If the Oilers do not intend on keeping Barker they may trade his rights in a package with either Omark, and or Paajarvi in a deal at the draft.

The Oilers will be a team to keep an eye on for sure over the next few days!

    Justin Schultz
It has recently been speculated that Schultz is looking to sign with a Canadian team, and Vancouver, Edmonton, and Toronto are the front runners. Knowing that Schultz will not sign in Anaheim leads me to believe that a team will acquire the rights to Schultz this week before, or at the draft. I know teams can simply wait until he is a UFA, but it would be the classy thing to do. A third round pick or a prospect would get it done. Perhaps a player such as Linus Omark from Edmonton, or Korbinian Holzer from Toronto.

Fantasy owners of Schultz must be rooting for him to land in Edmonton as he would become the top pairing defenseman with Ryan Whitney (If he is healthy) and play the point on a lethal Oilers power play.

    Zach Parise
The prize jewel of the UFA crop this summer has said he wants to remain as the Captain in New Jersey. The successful playoff run may have an influence on him in that regard. But the financial reality of the Devils makes it difficult to imagine how that could become a possibility. The Devils are on the verge of either going bankrupt, or being seized by the NHL and having Gary Bettman take control.
