  • Islanders Land Lubomir Visnovsky

http://www.fantasyhockeycoach.comThe New York Islanders have acquired Lubomir Visnovsky from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for the 2013 second-round pick. The thirty-five year-old had a down year for the Ducks which could be attributed to either the slumping stars in Anaheim or perhaps age with only 27 points in 68 games. The Slovakian-born defender is only one year removed from an exceptional season of 68 points. His numbers on Long Island will likely take a hit while being with a less talented group of forwards but his powerplay numbers are limitless especially since he’ll have his strongest offensive partner on the powerplay since Scott Niedermayer in Switzerland’s Mark Streit. Visnovsky has one season left on his contract at $5.6M which will definitely help the Isles reach the cap floor.

Players to benefit from the trade:
    - Mark Streit
    - John Tavares
    - Matt Moulson
    - Cam Fowler
    - Francois Beauchemin

Players it will hurt from the trade:
    - Andrew Macdonald
    - Travis Hamonic
    - Frans Nielsen (played point on the powerplay)
