The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Alexei Ponikarovsky to a one-year contract worth $1.8 million.
The big Russian forward split last season with the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils. In 49 games with the Hurricanes, Ponikarovsky posted seven goals and 15 points before going on to score seven goals and 18 points in only 33 games as he helped the New Jersey Devils run to the Stanley Cup final.
Ponikarovsky should hit the 15-goal mark with the Jets next season and could flirt with the 40-point plateau as well.
