    Fantasy Hockey Coach is extremely happy to announce that our First Annual Prospects Guide (Prospect-us) is available now for download ($4.95). The guide is loaded with in-depth information of NHL prospects and their potential fantasy impact, over 160 pages.

    The Prospect-us is designed to be as all inclusive as possible, whether you are a fantasy hockey guru trying to win their pool at work, a casual pool player, or just a fan of the sport in general who is interested in the future of their favorite NHL team(s). We have included a listing of our top 250 ranked prospects for the future in terms of their skill, upside and potential impact. Players must be 25 years or younger and haven’t played over 25 NHL games to qualify as a prospect for this guide.     Day 1 – Anaheim Ducks

    http://www.fantasyhockeycoach.comThe Ducks have an interesting and varied trend in their prospect pool. Their great strength is their deep offensively gifted forward pool. They tend to like forwards that have “skill with a snarl” or at least are thought of as hard workers. On defense and in net, Anaheim is relatively thin but has at least one impressive prospect in each spot. Hampus Lindholm and Sami Vatanen could be nice offensive catalysts from the blue line to complement Cam Fowler. Their forwards are also at various stages of development, which will make for a stable pool to pull from, but enough depth in case some do not pan out. This group of prospects could be one to keep an eye on since the only thing holding back a chunk of them is availability of ice time at the big club.

    C/W – Emerson Etem (USA) Medicine Hat Tigers
    6’0” 194 lbs, 20 years

    On a Medicine Hat Tigers team that largely just featured Etem, and top prospect for 2013 NHL Entry Draft Hunter Shinkaruk, Etem’s 100+ point totals in the 2011-12 season are even more impressive. He also holds a very strong plus/minus rating in front of Edmonton Oilers goalie prospect, Tyler Bunz. He saw action in six AHL games and he posted three points in that span. Etem fits the strong physical and skilled forward that Anaheim seeks out with players like Corey Perry, Bobby Ryan, Ryan Getzlaf and former Duck Dustin Penner all exemplify. He plays well in all situations, including the penalty kill and his game is best described as “explosive.” His hits, his shot and even his atypical skating style are all explosive. The young Californian has the makings to be the next Evander Kane and thus far appears deserving of that comparison. He has a decent chance to make the Ducks’ lineup in 2012-13 but will almost certainly make it to the NHL in 2013-14 if he continues his current trajectory.

    Projection: Top six forward

    Potential Upside: 65-80 points (Evander Kane)
    ETA: 2013-14

    RW – Kyle Palmieri (USA) Syracuse Crunch
    5’10’’ 190 lbs, 21 years

    During his one-year at the University of Notre Dame where he posted a minus-20 plus/minus rating, in 28 career NHL games Kyle Palmieri has a respectable plus-two rating. Even though the offense has not come as quickly and often as it did in AHL play, Palmieri has plenty of offensive upside. He could play a lower line role too if called upon but long term he should develop into a top two line forward in the NHL. The depth charts for the Ducks on right wing could really open up depending on Teemu Selanne’s annual decision on retirement. At some point the hurdles for Palmieri will move on and he will get a chance to show what his diverse potential will become.

    Projection: Top six forward

    Potential Upside: 55-70 (Patrick Marleau)
    ETA: 2012-13
