    The Washington Capitals have locked up a huge piece of their future for another six seasons after re-signing John Carlson today.

    Carlson is just 22 years old and will lead Washington in scoring from the blueline going forward.

    Last season Carlson set career high with nine goals and the season prior scored career high 37 points. Even though his point total dropped slightly last season he is still loaded with a ton of offensive potential.

    Carlson has solid shooting instincts and will start scoring 15-20 goals a season starting as early as this season. Going forward count on Carlson breaking the 40-point barrier this season and explode for even more in his fourth season.
