Each week we will look at a top ten fantasy forward list. The list will be based on fantasy impact over the past few days and weeks. Most elite stars are consistent scorers, but there are several players who are very streaky so keep an eye on their stats so that you can dress them while they are on a hot streak.
#10 Ales Hemsky (Edmonton Oilers) is pointless over the last five games. Hemsky has incredible offensive talent but injuries are taking their toll on him. Hemsky hasnt played a full season since 2005-2006 and that has been the only season where he has played the fulfill season. If Hemsky is healthy he is a point-a-game player.
#9 Jarome Iginla (Calgary Flames) is about the only thing going right for the Flames right now. Iginla has five games and 13 points over the last 11 games. Iginla is on pace for only 29 goals, lowest total since the 1999-2000 NHL season and 58 points, lowest total since the 1998-1999 NHL season. Iginla fantasy owners are desperately hoping for a trade to rejuvenate his offensive totals.
#8 Pavel Datsyuk (Detroit Red Wings) is helping to keep the Red Wings a contender as he has 14 points over the last nine games and is on a five game point streak. Datsyuk is one of the most skilled players ever to play the game and would likely lead the league in scoring if not for strong two-way play. Datsyuk is on pace for 86 points, highest total in three seasons.
#7 Marian Hossa (Chicago Blackhawks) is playing a significant role in keeping the Blackhawks a top seed in the NHL with five game points streak with 10 points over those five games. Hossa is on pace for his eighth season with 30 or more goals and at age 32 he is on pace for third highest point total of his career with 90 points.
#6 Jiri Hudler (Detroit Red Wings) is finally showing the scoring touch he had before he left for Russia. Hudler has four goals and eight points over the last six games. Hudler is on pace for 53 points, which is four points fewer than the season prior to playing in the KHL. Hudler is a streaky offensive player who scores in bunches and then disappears. Be sure to get him on one of his scoring streaks.
#5 Zach Parise (New Jersey Devils) is showing that the Devils are not all about defense with four goals and 11 points over the last seven games. Parise is showing no issues this season after missing all but 13 games last season due to a knee injury. Parise is on pace for just under 70 points but that total should go up once Travis Zajac is healthy.
#4 Patrick Sharp (Chicago Blackhawks) is on a nine game point streak and has 13 points over that span. Sharp has been a consistent scorer for the Blackhawks this season. Sharp is currently scoring points at a 1.06 point-per-game rate, which is the highest of his career and the first time ever that he has averaged over a point-a-game. Sharp is on pace for career highs in goals (42), assists (44) and points (86).
#3 Steven Stamkos (Tampa Bay Lightning) is the new NHL goal-scoring leader with 20 goals. Stamkos has nine goals and 18 points over the last 13 games. Stamkos is on pace for another 50+ goal season and his third straight 90+ points season. Stamkos has four goals and seven points over the last three games.
#2 Jason Spezza (Ottawa Senators) is playing great hockey right now as he has three goals and eight points over the last three games. Spezza is on a five game assist streak with eight assists over that streak. Spezza is finally showing his offensive flare again as he is back scoring at over a point-a-game ratio and is on pace for third highest point total of his career with 88 points.
#1 Evgeni Malkin (Pittsburgh Penguins) is on a tear right now. Over the last three games Malkin has five goals and eight points. Malkin is on a five game point streak with 12 points over that span. Malkin looks to be finally healthy after missing 39 games last season and 17 games the season prior due to knee and foot injuries. Malkin is on pace for second highest goal total (43) of his career and third 100+ point season.
