For the last several years, itís been the same story for the Philadelphia Flyers: great team, but questionable goaltending.

Well, here we are. The Stanley Cup Finals, a minimum of four, and a maximum of seven games left, in what has been a wild and whacky NHL season. Itís exciting, yet sad knowing that the Stanley Cup will be awarded in a couple of weeks, exciting because one team will exorcise demons of playoffs past, whether it be Vancouver, or Boston. Sad, because after that, as hockey fans we have to wait until September just for exhibition games, and October until the start of the 2011-12 season, which will see the reintroduction of the Winnipeg franchise. Hereís hoping theyíre called the Jets!

After watching Original Six team Chicago hoist the Stanley Cup last season ending a 48 year drought, the Boston Bruins are looking to capture its first title since 1972 when Phil Esposito and Bobby Orr led them to the Promised Land.

In Vancouver, the Canucks have never won the Cup since their inception in 1969-70; they did however finish runner up in 1982 and in 1994 and with a victory would end a drought stretching to 18 years since a Canadian team has won the whole title.

At the start of the season, the Vancouver Canucks set some team goals, and one of them was to play for the Stanley Cup. It took double overtime and a strange goal, but the Canucks were able to accomplish that goal and are just four wins away from winning their first Stanley Cup.

In the first round against the Chicago Blackhawks, Daniel Sedin was the Canucks' best offensive player, scoring seven points. Daniel scored five goals, including the game-winner in Game 2. In the second round, however, he only scored one goal and three points against the Nashville Predators and was a -6 in that series.

The Sharks devoured the Octopus after seeming to choke on it for awhile in a 4-3 series victory over the Red Wings that could mark the end of the Niklas Lidstrom era. And now they face a stiffer, bigger challenge in the form of the orca and the Vancouver Canucks. Both teams blew a three nothing series lead in these playoffs, threatening to become the fourth team to blow a three, zero series lead.

The Skinny: Vancouver took the season series 3-1 over San Jose and finished above them in the standings winning the presidentís trophy. In a meeting on March 10th, the two teams had one of the best regular season match-ups this year with Vancouver winning 5-4 in OT after the teams exchanged goals just over two minutes apart. Both teams boast offensive prowess in their games and use most of their energy attacking the opposing team. By all accounts it should be an extremely exciting series and one of these yearly playoff disappoints will be the Western representative in the Stanley Cup Finals.
