Good morning FHC faithful and welcome to our latest feature, The Press Box.
In this section we will be musing daily about the latest in the NHL and the world of fantasy hockey. Everything from scores, trades, rumors, injuries and more. So grab that morning coffee and start your day at FHC.
Rumor: Ottawa Senators prospect Jakob Silfverberg will be coming to Ottawa on Sunday. He will be here on time for game six, but not five. If Alfredsson is still unable to play could Silfverberg see his first game? Mark Stone is also on the Ice for practice Friday morning. Read the top ten Sens prospects article here
Rumor: The Canucks decision to Start Corey Schneider in game four has sparked Roberto Luongo trade Rumors and the two top teams being mentioned are Tampa and Toronto. Our friends at The Hockey Writers have a good read on the possibility of Luongo going back to the Sunshine State. No doubt he would accept a trade there as his wife has family there.
Suspensions: Today is the day for Raffi Torres. The over under is ten games for his hit on Hossa. What do you say, over or under?
The Penguins will have James Neal, and Craig Adams back from their suspensions for game five tonight.
The AHL post season began last night and the Marlies took a 1 game lead. Leafs prospect Stuart Percy made his pro debut in the game. Here is a good article on Percy at The Hockey Writers by David O'Connor.
The Calder Trophy for rookie of the year finalists are:
James Van Riemsdyk has been in full practice and could play in game five.
Daniel Alfredsson has been working out but is questionable for game five.
Jason Garrison was a late scratch on Thursday with a lower body injury
Hal Gill who has not played in the post season should see action for Nashville in game five
Jesse Winchester left the game on Wednesday for the Sens and is questionable with a upper body injury
Nick Grossman also left Wednesdays game for the Flyers with an upper body injury and is also questionable for game five.
Paul Martin has an undisclosed injury and may, or may not play in game five! Love the disclosure in the playoffs!
Marian Hossa, there are no updates on Hossa's status at this time.
Flyers @ Penguins, 7:30 Flyers lead series 3-1
Thoughts: If Fleury can turn his game around, and the Penguins can play better team defense and kill some penalties they have a chance to take this to game seven. I think everyone wants to see this series go the distance!
Red Wings @ Predators, 8:00, Predators lead series 3-1
Thoughts: Given the Wings veteran savvy roster you can't call this series over either. The games have all been close. The fourth win is always the hardest, but this game is in Nashville. Look for the Preds to close this series up tonight as we could see our first hand shake procession.
Just past the half way point of round one, how is the beard coming along?
