Alex Semin has played his last game as a Washington Capital according to his agent. Semin has expressed interest in remaining in the NHL however. The Hockey Writers Tim Kolupanowich believes It Is Time Washington To Part Ways With Semin as well. Semin is a risky player to own in a fantasy league right now with so much uncertainty in his future. Will he play in the KHL next year? Could he sign in Detroit and have his fantasy value increase? While it seems aparent that a Semin Washington breakup is mutual, Dmitry Chesnokov tweeted yesterday;
"After arriving in Sweden, Alexander Semin denied that he is leaving the #Caps for sure."
Perhaps the Dale Hunters announcement changed his mind?
Also walking out on the Caps is Head Coach Dale Hunter. He announced he is returning to his OHL team the London Knights who are OHL Champions and entering the Memorial Cup.
Add Washington to the list of teams seeking a new bench boss that includes Montreal, Calgary, and possibly Vancouver, Edmonton, and San Jose.
Vladamir Tarasenko rumors recently are surfacing suggesting that he may be ready to sign with the St. Louis Blues and join the NHL. (Of course I just traded him for a first round draft pick!) If the right winger joins the Blues the most likely candidate to be moved to make room in a top six role would be Chris Stewart. Stewart has struggled in St. Louis and a change of scenery could really boost his fantasy value.
