It became a night of redemption for a couple of Detroit Red Wings at
Joe Louis Arena, and this Western Conference Quarterfinal Series is now
even because of it.

Damien Brunner
scored 15:10 into overtime to give the Red Wings a 3-2 victory Monday
night against the Anaheim Ducks. He atoned for a bad gaffe in Game 3 -- a
turnover in his own zone that led a critical goal in Anaheim's 4-0
victory -- by putting home the rebound of a Gustav Nyquist shot to tie the series at two games apiece.

Game 5 is Wednesday back in Anaheim.

Gustav Nyquist's first career playoff goal came 1:21 into overtime to help the Detroit Red Wings take a 5-4 win over the Anaheim Ducks in Game 2 of this Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Detroit had blown a three-goal lead in the third period, but went into overtime on the power play as Sheldon Souray was whistled for slashing with 38 seconds to play in regulation.

With time winding down on the man advantage, Daniel Cleary passed the puck from the right corner over to the right circle for Valtteri Filppula, who skated down low before sending it back to the left wing where Nyquist fired it in for the win.

What’s the occasion: Red Wings play them in the first round of the playoffs.

How they fared this season: The Ducks won, 5-2, in Detroit in February, but the Wings won twice at Anaheim in March, beating the Ducks, 5-1, on a Friday night and 2-1 on a Sunday afternoon.

Who are some good Ducks: Ryan Getzlaf is big and strong and averages more than a point a game. Corey Perry has a nasty, physical side to him, but he’s also very dangerous with the puck. He likes to shoot. A lot. Teemu Selanne is 42 and fantastic. Incredibly skilled shooter. Bobby Ryan is a high-end young guy, a very good passer and capable goal scorer.
