The Anaheim Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees and will have surgery to correct the problem.

Ducks general manager Bob Murray revealed the news on Tuesday, less than 48 hours after a disappointing Game 7 home loss to the Detroit Red Wings eliminated the Pacific Division champions from the postseason.

In addition, Murray said that forward Nick Bonino's undisclosed injury which kept him out of the lineup for a month was a torn hamstring, and that forward Ryan Getzlaf was hampered by an ankle injury sustained in early March.

Anaheim Ducks forward Teemu Selanne told reporters he got tired in the second half of the 2012-13 season but said he had not yet made a decision if he would return for another NHL season.

Selanne had 12 goals and 24 points in 46 games, but eight in his final 28 games, and one goal in seven games against the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

"The first half, I thought I had the energy," he told reporters in Anaheim. "The second half was a bit more disappointing. The schedule was tougher also. I felt, especially when [Nick] Bonino got hurt, I felt like I didn't find that chemistry I was looking for. Obviously that affected me. I started coming down a little bit, and the job was harder.

Earlier in this series, Ducks center Nick Bonino admitted that teammates make fun of him because, “every goal I score I celebrate like I’ve never scored before.”

He’s never had more reason to act that way than tonight.

Bonino punched in the overtime game-winner 1:54 into the extra session to give the Ducks a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 5 at Honda Center. The victory gave the Ducks a 3-games-to-2 advantage in the series, which swings back to Detroit for Game 6 on Friday night.

Hockey fans in southern California will have an opportunity to watch some of their favorite NHL stars next year in possible 80-plus degree temperatures from the great outdoors when the Los Angeles Kings play host to the Anaheim Ducks at Dodger Stadium on Jan. 25, 2014.

The event is part of the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series, in which the NHL plans to play a number of regular-season games in outdoor venues in 2013-14. The League already announced another game in this series last week, revealing plans for a outdoor game at Soldier Field, featuring the Chicago Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins, to be played on March 1, 2014.

"With their meeting in the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series, the Ducks and the Kings will write the next chapter in the exciting story of NHL hockey in Southern California," Commissioner Gary Bettman said. "At a venue that represents so much glorious sports history, this match-up of Stanley Cup champions will raise our outdoor initiatives to bold new heights. We know the game will be a treat for our fans, and we thank the Ducks, the Kings, Coors Light, Dodger Stadium and the Los Angeles Dodgers for bringing it to life."

Game 3 of this Western Conference Quarterfinal may have turned in the Anaheim Ducks' favor on an illegal hit, and now the Detroit Red Wings will have to hope history doesn't reveal the series turned on it as well.

Detroit forward Justin Abdelkader was assessed a five-minute major penalty for charging and a game misconduct after hitting Anaheim defenseman Toni Lydman
late in the second period of a scoreless game, and the Ducks rolled
from that point in a 4-0 victory Saturday night at Joe Louis Arena.

The Ducks scored once on the five-minute power play but controlled
play for most of the game after the hit and now hold a 2-1 lead in this
best-of-7 series with Game 4 on Monday night here at The Joe.

Final Score: Coyotes 5, Ducks 3

This time it was the youth up that was scratched as Etem, Beleskey, and Staubitz joined Sbisa in the press box, as well as the 8 million people the Ducks just called up from Norfolk. It both did and did not matter as the Ducks lost but it didn't affect them anyway. It was a fairly straight forward game as the Ducks threw a ton of frozen vulcanized rubber at Jason LaBarbera only to be thwarted.

The Anaheim chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association (PHWA) announced today that Andrew Cogliano has been selected as the Ducks’ nominee for the 2012-13 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The Masterton Trophy is presented annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. The winner will be selected at the end of the regular season by the full PHWA’s 30 chapters.

Cogliano, 25 (6/14/87), has scored 12-10=22 points with a +14 rating and four penalty minutes (PIM) in 46 contests. The Toronto, Ontario native has not missed a single contest in his six-year career, having appeared in 456 consecutive games since his 2007-08 NHL debut. The streak ranks third on the NHL’s active iron man list, behind just St. Louis’ Jay Bouwmeester (633) and Vancouver’s Henrik Sedin (627).

The Ducks have clinched the Pacific Division title and the #2 seed in
the Western Conference by virtue of tonight's win in Edmonton. This
marks the second division title for Anaheim (also 2007).

Viktor Fasth made 24 saves for his fourth shutout of the season as the
Ducks clinched the Pacific crown with a 3-0 victory against the Edmonton
Oilers on Monday at Rexall Place.

Ryan Getzlaf, Radek Dvorak and Sami Vatanen scored for the Ducks
(29-11-6), who won back-to-back games in Edmonton to capture their first
divisional title since 2007 — the year they went on to win the Stanley
