If you do, here’s a sobering fact: last summer at this time, we took a fan poll here at the Cult of Hockey and found that 41 per cent of Oilers fans predicted the Oilers would make the playoffs in 2011-12. As we all know, the team finished second last in the NHL, far out of the playoffs.

I wasn’t one of the fans who thought last summer that the Oilers would make the playoffs. I didn’t think the team could make such a large leap. Indeed, for such an improbable leap to happen, I argued that 10 things had to happen.
