Each team will consist of a total of 14 active players consisting of
9 forwards
4 defense
1 goalie

The teams must have this as a minimum requirement to be a legal roster and these players will count towards the team salary cap. The team must meet these roster requirements and must be salary cap compliant to be a legal roster and register points.

The Cap will mirror that of the NHL and players salaries will be determined by Cap Geek.

KEEPER POOL CAP CEILING - 6.5% = $45,630,000

KEEPER POOL CAP FLOOR - NHL cap floor divided by 23 multiply by 14 (no cap floor till fantrax offers this function)

In addition each team can have up to five bench or reserve players. These can be players of any position and will NOT count against the salary cap. These players will not contribute points to the team while on reserve. Players may be exchanged up and down between the reserve and bench roster as you see fit each week. Line-up are set weekly and are locked every Monday 1 minute prior to the start of the first game.

Each team will also be allowed a prospect, or junior team as well to farm and develop prospects. The prospect roster will consist of six maximum players in the inaugural season. Prospect players may be active NHL players but must be under 25 years old and played fewer then 25 NHL games. Prospect players can be promoted to the active roster one time only. Once a prospect is promoted, he may not be demoted back to the minors. There is a limit of one prospect promotion per month. Essentially a prospect is any player drafted by a NHL team and is under the age of 25 and under 25 NHL games experience.

If a team promotes a prospect, acquires a player via trade or free agency/waiver etc and is over the maximum allowed number of players you must immediately select players to release as free agents to become roster compliant who will become available to the rest of the league via waivers.

After the inaugural draft there will be a 3 round entry draft each off-season. The draft order will be based on reverse order of standings, with 1 exception and that being the bottom 10 teams will be placed into a lottery. Each draft will add 5 more roster spots to your minor team, up to a maximum of 25 players. This will allow you to draft your prospects and allow them time to develop. Just so everyone is clear you don't have 25 minor spots now, you have 6. After the 2013 draft you will have 11 spots, then after then 2014 draft you will have 16 spots and so on.

The scoring for this league will be as follows:

Skaters
Goals = 3 points
Assist = 2 points
Power Play Point = 1 point
Short Handed Point = 1 point
Hits = 0.1 point
Shots = 0.1 point
Blocked Shots = 0.1 point
Hat Trick = 3 points
Gordie Howe Hat Trick = 15 points

Goalies
Wins = 3 points
Shut Out = 2 points
Overtime/Shoot-out Loss = 1 point
Saves = 0.1 points

Each team will be allowed one free agent and one waiver claim per week. A total of two claims may be made, one free agent and one waiver. You cannot make two claims of one type.

Free agency is 1st come 1st serve and you can sign any player that has been drafted by an NHL team.

The Waiver Wire order is reset every Tuesday at 4 AM PST and the order is reverse order of standings. Waivers will be process every Friday at 4 AM EST. You submit your waiver claim on Fantrax and you will find out on Friday morning if you were successful in your claim.

Prevention of waiver “churning” will prevent teams from putting a player on waivers by claiming and dropping him within the same Lineup Period. If that happens that player would go straight back to being a free agent, upon being dropped.

Trades are allowed, and encouraged. Teams may trade any number of players or assets as they see fit. Roster players, bench players, prospects or draft choices up to three years in advance may be included in trades. There is no limit to the number of trades teams may make.

The league will recognize the NHL trade deadline and will have a trade and roster freeze on ALL TRANSACTIONS approximately one week after the NHL trade deadline.

Players traded in mid season will not carry points with them. Only points accumulated after the time the trade was posted on fantrax will count towards the new teams total. If a traded player is currently in the scoring line-up of the previous team he will continue to accumulate points until the end of the month (end of the scoring period).

Coach Brouwer, Coach Harling and Coach Selly are the league commissioners and reserve the right to block any trade they deem to be a trade of "sportsmanlike nature" (Stacking).

Once you click accept trade on Fantrax the deal is official, so make sure you want to do the deal. Once two parties have agreed on terms to make a trade and it is accepted on Fantrax it is to be posted in the "trades" thread of the forum. A trade is not considered a "done deal" until both teams accept it on Fantrax.

If as a result a team is illegal due to roster violation, or salary cap violation it is their responsibility to become compliant again.

Players traded who are injured or retired, or otherwise "damaged" is irrelevant. It is your responsibility to be informed and do your research. That said please try to conduct trades in a honorable fashion and provide full disclosure.

We also ask the you reply in a reasonable time frame to trade offers. Within 48 hours as it will make this league far more enjoyable for all.

We have a 25 man roster limit, this consisting of 14 active players, 5 reserve players and 6 prospects/minor players.

If a free agent claim or waiver claim is made that puts your team above the 25 player limit, a player MUST IMMEDIATELY be dropped to create room for the claimed player.

Roster Eligibility Update - 25 Player Compliance

All owners have until Monday, December 31st, 2012 at 1:00 pm Eastern Time to have their roster down to 25 total players and they will need to remain at 25 moving forward.

During the off-season, if a move is made that puts a team above the 25 player roster limit, that team has one week to make any necessary moves to get the team compliant (this does NOT include free agent and waiver pick ups, with these a team must IMMEDIATELY drop a player if the claim results in the team being over the 25 man limit). During the regular season, the time period will be 48 hours. If a team is not compliant within the stated time period, the Commissioner will forcibly drop players from the team until the team is compliant.

Keep in mind that during the regular season, if your roster is illegal, your team will not accumulate any points for the duration of the time it is non-compliant.



If the Commissioner is forced to make the necessary roster moves for you and a player must be dropped, the Commissioner will randomly draw a name from ALL players on your team (this includes goaltenders) and drop the player that is picked. This means that ANY PLAYER on your team could be dropped should the Commish be forced to go this route.

Let me reinterate:

When a free agent or waiver claim is made and the claim puts the team over the 25 player roster limit, that team must IMMEDIATELY drop a player to be compliant with the 25 player roster limit. If the team does not drop a player, the Commissioner will either reverse the claim or forcibly drop a player from the team's roster.


And once again, a reminder:

If the Commissioner is forced to make the necessary roster moves for you and a player must be dropped, the Commissioner will randomly draw a name from ALL players on your team (this includes goaltenders) and drop the player that is picked. This means that ANY PLAYER on your team could be dropped should the Commish be forced to go this route.

With a tentative CBA in place between the NHL and NHLPA, all of our GMs/Owners need to get their team rosters legal.

This means you need to have your 19 active players and 5 reserve players in place and get your team salary cap compliant. Your active roster and bench can have prospects on it. Please be aware that of you have a prospect on your active roster or bench and that player is not playing in the NHL, the player won't produce any points.

Any teams that have more than the 19 "NHL" players need to make the appropriate moves to bring their teams into compliance, this may mean you will have to drop players and be short the 6 prospects you are supposed to have. At this point in time, teams are NOT required to have 6 total prospects, you can have less than 6.

Once the season begins if you have more than the 19 "NHL" players or you are over the salary cap, your team will NOT accrue any points and if your team isn't made legal within a reasonable amount of time, the Commissioner will make any moves required to get your team legal.

During the regular season, if you promote a prospect from your minor roster, you must IMMEDIATELY drop a player from your bench or active roster to make room for the prospect. Once the prospect is promoted, he can be placed back onto the prospect roster, until such time as he reaches the age of 25 or has played in 25+ NHL games. If you claim a prospect from waivers or as a free agent, he may be place on your prospect roster provided it does not put you above the limit of 6 prospects.

A reminder about free agents and waiver claims: If you claim a player from waivers or claim a free agent, you need to IMMEDIATELY drop a player from your active roster or your reserves to make room for the claimed player.
