Anaheim Ducks Suddenly Struggling To Score
The Anaheim Ducks were able to secure a playoff berth this week despite losing two straight games, but their recent lack of offensive production is a big cause for concern heading into the seasonís final six games. Luckily, the Ducks donít play again until Wednesday, so they have some time to look at what isnít working and take steps to fix it.
The Ducks managed just one goal in a loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday, while going 0-for-3 on the power play. Teemu Selanne got the lone goal, and goaltender Jonas Hiller getting the hook after allowing four goals while facing only 16 shots. The Ducks also scored just one goal in a loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night, and once again came up empty on the power play. They also were unable to convert with the man-advantage in a win over the Edmonton Oilers on Monday, even though they had five power play chances. Addressing the special teams situation is a great starting point when the team starts to look at why they arenít scoring goals, as their three-game 0-for-9 performance has been far from impressive.
