Four conference winners are seeded on total points, 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3, so an all-East or all-West final is possible.
I would like it if they had the crossover rule, though.
You have to think that Washington doesn't like this. The teams that they play just got a lot more difficult.

I'm more concerned about the future than the closer years though.
With forfeiting the 1st round pick we will have less talent, Marty will be retiring, Patty will be retiring, and Zach may not be around. I don't even want to think of the aftermath if both Zach and Zajac leave.
Saying all of this, you can't predict the future and for all I know maybe we end up being great and the Caps, Rags, and Flyers start to suck. There will be very little room for error for any team in the conference.
No doubt we will be in a tough spot to make the PO in that conference.
