I don't like the playoff format.
This falls on Kovalchuk. If he signs in Atlanta, they probably stay. Instead, we're doomed. Doomed! Damn you, Kovalchuk!
It's funny, you can blame him for almost anything.
I think calling them conferences is stupid. Call them divisions and keep the conferences intact. The winner of each divisional playoffs plays the other division winner for the conference championship. That way they can keep the trophies and some sort of tradition.
I also think by having the conferences you can have a crossover rule, which can help prevent some scrub team from getting into the playoffs while the 5th best team in the other division (which very well could be someone in our division) goes home.

I also find it funny that the AHL scrapped the ridiculous "4 teams from each division" make the playoffs. Best teams make it in. Why is that not the logical format?
I'll eventually get used to it, but right now I don't like it.
anyone not listening to this Lambert vs. Steigerwald "interview" is missing out.
it's hilarious. This "journalist" is insane.
Steigerwald: Ovechkin's mother probably had a mustache cause she played basketball in the 70's so Alex must have taken steroids... yup
