I wouldn't care if Bernier was out for every single goal tonight. He had a great game. He played well on the forecheck and had a couple decent chances and didn't have any defensive blunders.
If anything he played much like the rest of the Devils do on a regular basis. Solid game, no finish on his shots, no attack on the rebound. It's disappointing when the Devils outplay their opponent like they did today and let the other team stay in the game with mental lapses.
It also didn't help that the first goal started with a penalty by Tampa that wasn't called but should have been and the second goal came on a penalty against the Devils that was called and shouldn't have. But those are just excuses. If the team can finish its opportunities, then it deserves to be where it is.
