What a dumb start time. If you start at 7:30, you're still offset of the the other game. You drop at 7:40, get off the ice at roughly 8:15 or so, get back on at 8:30, get off at 9:05, leaving the last 15-20 minutes of the other game open, then you get back on at 9:20 and get out at 9:55.
If you start at 8:30, you start at roughly 8:40, which is in the ballpark of when the 3rd period starts in the other game.
It's the NHL's way of guaranteeing that no one actually watches the game because it is sure to be detrimental to the sport of hockey.
