Ducks GM Bob Murray has long prepared for the eventual loss of top prospect Justin Schultz to free agency but he’s taking one final shot.

Murray said that he met with Schultz’s agent, Wade Arnott of Newport Sports Management, during the draft in Pittsburgh but the meeting got the Ducks no closer to inking an entry-level deal with the star collegiate defenseman.

“I met quietly with their people [Thursday] night and it’s not going anywhere,” Murray said. “Justin’s made up his mind on what he’s doing.”
