The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed free agent defenseman Sami Salo to a two-year contract today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.
Salo, 6-foot-3, 212 pounds, has played in 761 career NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators. He has accumulated 93 goals, 305 points, 55 power-play goals and 24 game-winning goals. Salo has played for Vancouver since the 2002-03 season. He has played in 100 career Stanley Cup Playoff games with both the Canucks and Senators, recording 12 goals and 31 points. Salo was named to the NHLís All-Rookie Team in 1999.
