Cody Ceci wore No. 38 on the ice for the Senators Tuesday, which is just a flip of digits from the 83 he wears for the 67’s. Why 83?

“When I was playing minor midget, at the end of the year I went up to play with the (Peterborough Tier II) junior team and they gave me 83, because I was usually 8, and it was taken,” said the Orléans native. “So they kind of mixed 8 and 93, my birth year. When I went to the 67’s someone was wearing 8 again, so I just kept with 83 and have worn it ever since.”

He won’t get 8 when he plays for the Senators in the NHL, either. That was Frank Finnigan’s number, and it’s retired
