Bryan Allen hasn’t stepped foot on the Honda Center ice but he immediately brings size and perhaps added amount of snarl to the Ducks’ defense corps that has been missing that since Andy Sutton and his failed one-year stint.

The reality is the Ducks haven’t had that consistent imposing blue-line presence since they dealt Chris Pronger to Philadelphia. Allen is not Pronger and no comparison case will be made.

But the 31-year-old Allen plays right to his role and has 11 years and over 600 games of NHL experience under his belt. Mention the word consistency to the 6-foot-5 rearguard and his voice perks up.
