A few weeks ago, rumors surfaced that Miroslav Satan would return to the NHL next season after spending the last two years back in Europe. The New York Islanders appear to be the best fit, both then and now. Satan still has a residence on Long Island and there is a scoring line role to be had with the free agent departure of P.A. Parenteau.
Officially, the 37-year-old Satan remains in limbo. However, Lubomir Visnovksy suggested in a recent interview that Garth Snow is confident Satan will be an Islander next season. A return to Long Island for Satan could also help convince Visnovsky to withdraw his grievance over his recent trade from Anaheim to the Islanders.
Satan scored 10 points in 13 playoff games for the Bruins in 2010. He has spent most of the last two seasons in Slovakia with Slovan Bratislava as well as a short stint in Russia with Dynamo Moscow. He won a championship with Slovan last season, ranking fifth in the league in regular season scoring and leading all players during the playoffs.
