If Mark Flood had his way, he would have been back with the Winnipeg Jets.

But after appearing in a career-high 33 NHL games last season and putting up three goals and seven points, the Jets didn’t offer Flood a one-way contract as an unrestricted free agent, so he signed a one-year deal with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the Kontinental Hockey League.

“Obviously, I wanted to come back to Winnipeg, that was my first choice,” Flood said in a telephone interview. “Once I kind of realized it wasn’t going to be the deal I wanted, we started to explore some more options to see what was out there.”
