I am afraid the Leafs and Burke have not done enough in the off season to make the playoffs this year. Most of the teams the Leafs need to compete against for a playoff spot have improved. New York Rangers have added Nash and have some solid young guys that are coming on strong. Boston will still be solid. Ottawa has some solid young guys and solid overall strength, Buffalo looks better, Carolina with the addition of Jordan Stall and Semin will be much different this coming season. Washington might struggle and Philadelphia is a bit of a mystery having lost Jagr and Carle. The Islanders look like they could be ready to start reaping the benefits of years of high draft picks. New Jersey might be vulnerable having lost Parise but overall it will be a real challenge for the Leafs to garner the 94 to 95 points needed to make the playoffs.
Sorry but unless a rabbit is pulled from a hat in the shape of a significant deal I am afraid this will be another lean year for Leaf fans.
