Some players and some teams just make a perfect match. For Kari Lehtonen and the Dallas Stars, that seems to be the case.

The Stars announced on Friday that Lehtonen, 28, had signed a five-year, $29.5 million contract extension that will keep the goaltender with the team through the 2017-18 season.

Lehtonen, who has one season left on his current contract, would have been an unrestricted free agent following the 2012-13 season had he not signed.
