The Admiral's signed five players to tryout contracts to participate in the week long training camp before the October 6th & 7th preseason games with the Charlotte Checkers. Four of the five players have pro experience ranging from the CHL up to the AHL . The fifth is a rookie who played for Michigan State and spent last season in the OHL.
Let's meet the players:
has a knack, albeit streaky, for scoring. He posted 92 points in one season of junior hockey and 59 points in 57 games last season with CHL champion - and new Anaheim and Norfolk affiliate - Fort Wayne Komets. At 5'10" he isn't the biggest player; however, if you followed the Admiral's last year, you'd know that size doesn't matter with players like Cory Conacher, the AHL MVP, and Tyler Johnson doing some awesome things.
is the physcial presence that this year's Admirals could be looking for. Through three seasons of American junior hockey, he had 451 penalty minutes in 165 games. He played part of a season with Michigan State, but left after a controversial incident that included Michigan players. While in college, he had 76 PIMs in 21games. The last four seasons were spent in the AHL with the Hamilton Bulldogs. He collected 207 PIMs and 49 points in 157 games with only 10 games played last season.
