NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is offering the locked out players union a 50-50 split of revenue and no salary rollback, hoping to get the 2012-13 season started by Nov. 2 with a full 82 game schedule that would add an extra game every five weeks.

The NHLPA's chief negotiator, Donald Fehr, was hopeful that the latest offer would be a jumpstart for new collective bargaining talks. The players will discuss the offer and will be holding a news conference at 5 p.m. EDT.
