While the Ontario Hockey League trading deadline is still more than two months away, the deadline to salvage the 2012-13 season for the Ottawa 67ís is now.

Reluctant to throw in the towel just yet on the playoffs, 67ís head coach and general manager Chris Byrne on Monday shed a veteran who didnít want to be in Ottawa while swinging another deal for a goaltender who finally gets to be the go-to guy after playing in the shadows of others with three different OHL teams.

As expected, Byrne shipped overage defenceman Jake Cardwell and his league-worst minus-20 to the Belleville Bulls for three draft picks and kept things rolling by acquiring 19-year old goalie Clint Windsor from the Mississauga Steelheads.
