As the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins were wrapping up an optional practice Thursday morning at Mohegan Sun Arena, Pittsburgh assistant coach Todd Reirden spent about 30 minutes working individually with rookie defenseman Brian Dumoulin.
Reirden banked puck after puck off the boards to Dumoulin at the point, and he practiced quickly and efficiently stick handling in a high-traffic area.
"He definitely has a huge upside as a player," Reirden said. "He's fun to work with as far as trying the things you're giving him. I think he's made steady progress in the games I've watched this year. He needs to continue to move forward. There's definitely a lot to work with there."
